The U.K. is not like Italy

twaddle the best food is always grown at home. No doubt then that it is British!
I miss all the things we grew now I no longer have a garden and have to rely on supermarket deliveries.

I look for them, especially now the British asparagus is in.

I bought a couple of kilos of asparagus from a farm in Norfolk yesterday, so I hope it's British (almost certainly not cut by British farm workers ... hmmm).

I grow my own rhubarb, beans and salad leaves and pick blackberries, blackcurrants, raspberries, gooseberries and blueberries myself (to freeze), so I know they're British. Friends give me apples, pears and plums (and even some cherries sometimes).

My meat (even chicken) is always British. I don't need a flag on any of it.

We're lucky we can grow so much, especially if people are prepared to eat crops in season.

I think the UK is a really pretty place with stunning countryside and wonderful architecture the food is multicultural and fantastic in most places and in general the population is polite and tolerant however I think my preference is Italy it feels like home when I am there, the scenery, architecture, the food the culture it isnt perfect no where is but if I could live there I would (nothing decrying the UK however).

Even I don't object to those flags. I don't even notice them now, but if I think about it, it gives me a rosy glow to think I'm eating something which was grown in the UK.

I love Italian food but fear I would be more ‘rotund’ if I lived there. 🙂

We are still lucky to live in this country for so many reasons.
(I have lived and travelled abroad and not been anywhere I would rather live).

Food in our capital that rivals if not surpasses Rome.

I've noticed the Welsh flag flying more in the last few weeks. The Welsh are more patriotic and proud of the country.

I expect those living in Calabria in the "toe" of Italy don't feel quite the same as those living in Milan or Rome. There is virtually no employment and it's said the only option is to join the Mafia.

The tragedy in both the UK and Italy is that regional equality isn't that high on the agenda. An even bigger tragedy is that the Labour Party has actually begun to do something about it, but people have still voted them out in local elections. Clacton, for example, has been given £60 million for local projects.

Patriotism meaning love of one's country, a pride in it and a desire to improve it

Nationalism means a feeling of superiority, dominance, leading to xenophobia.

Wanting Britain to be litter-free is a matter of pride and patriotic!!

Both the UK and Italy are wonderful places to live and to visit, I’d have been a lot more exercised about a comparison between the UK with almost anywhere else. One difference is that Italians don’t seem to constantly complain about everything in their country, whereas Brits are serial moaners.

Yes, cheddar is a main staple, and brie an indulgence.
Compte is like emmental, waxy and delish.

I like a bit of Brie in a toasted bacon sandwich with some caramelised red onion chutney
