Where’s Nigel?

So, to lighten the mood somewhat, has anyone seen Nigel Farage of late?

Someone a week or so ago stated he’s always in Clacton on Fridays? Is he? Doing what, I ask myself? He doesn’t run surgeries or any kind of meet up or run general meetings with his constituency members, ever.

He last managed to turn up at Westminster on June 3rd, for PMQT, however prior to that he last attended a parliamentary vote on 18th March, having now (allegedly) missed 77 consecutive votes.

What is (or isn’t) this man doing to earn his not insubstantial MP salary?

Is this really the kind of politician our country needs? Are his supporters truly deluded enough to believe this man is PM material?

Christianity won’t save him though, if he is found to have broken the parliamentary rules he will be treated exactly like any other MP, which is as it should be. He’s not doing himself any favours by sounding off about the process.

I mean, can you imagine him, if it had been Starmer and 5 million? What a hypocrite.

Basgetti Tue 07-Jul-26 07:37:12

There’s something decidedly creepy about Posh George calling him Daddy.

Breaking News. At 2pm today. Farage is to make a statement on his ‘future in public life’.

LemonJam Tue 07-Jul-26 12:58:28

Thanks for the heads up Casdon- I can't wait.

Let’s hope he chucks in the towel, he’s arrogant enough not to though so not holding my breath. I can’t imagine he actually wants to be PM - too much like hard work and he’d have to take a massive pay cut.

I thought he was in America? Again…

AGAA4 Tue 07-Jul-26 13:20:55

I hope he does the decent thing and resigns. His position seems untenable now.

No, he came back yesterday, I know because Sky News caught him at the airport and starting asking questions - he was very angry, they put the clip up on Sky last night.

He could just be about to take another leaf out of the Trump playbook and threaten to sue everyone.

OTOH, he may have the wind up that Burnham could call a snap election to try to get a five year mandate and he [Farage] might end up PM, a job he knows he could never do. I've long said he would run away before 2029.

Maybe his mates Gerry Gunter and Andy Wigmore offered him another job last weekend while he was schmoozing in Washington.

While we wait, some commentary from the FT on Posh George’s book How to Launder Money.

For one split second I thought, hoorah! Then I remembered this is Farage, so likely not to be a step down, but more likely an send-righteous anger stating he’s done nothing wrong ever in his whole life and he’s being bullied and is in fear of his life!

Cossy Tue 07-Jul-26 13:35:58

Ooops “a self-righteous”

If only …..

Since when has a party leader with 5 (?) MP’s made headline news and called for news conferences at a moments notice confused? Still, his Starmer Out campaign worked, didn’t it…

My guess is, he feels he is at a crossroads.

Politically, and maybe personally as well.

The £5mill investigation wont be helping either.

Looks like he was and is.

We shall see...

I think he might have a whole 8 MPs now, including himself, including “defections”.

It’s not being screened on the BBC as yet, have BBC news channel on now!

He’s screening it using his own media company, with no journalists presents hence no Q&A afterwards.

So news presenters having a chat about Farage and Reform! Interesting enough, but not his promised statement! It’s now 14:09 and I ask again “Where's Nigel?”

Cossy Tue 07-Jul-26 14:13:52

And hear we go “let me be clear, I’ve done nothing wrong at all”

It’s a big “poor old me” statement!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 07-Jul-26 14:14:01

Speaking now

Cossy Tue 07-Jul-26 14:15:11

It’s pathetic! Utterly pathetic and now going on about “making money not a crime!”

It’s not wrong to make money!

Cossy Tue 07-Jul-26 14:15:47

Actually, it’s utterly sickening!

Cossy Tue 07-Jul-26 14:20:22

Surely he shouldn’t be talking about his 5m if he’s been referred to the ethics committee.

AGAA4 Tue 07-Jul-26 14:24:39

He is playing the victim. The 'establishment' are against him when he has done nothing wrong.
He must think people are fools. Why is he best pals with a convicted criminal? Why is he so involved in crypto currency?
Nigel is all about making money for himself by fair means and foul and he isn't interested in working people as he claims.
Also why has he been given a platform to tell lies?

MG55 Tue 07-Jul-26 14:24:51

Blimey, he is really ranting on!

Casdon Tue 07-Jul-26 14:26:42

I think he’s been to USA for an intensive ‘How to out -Trump Trump’ course.

MG55 Tue 07-Jul-26 14:27:11

YES!!!
He is resigning as MP
