In the immortal words of Brenda from Bristol, «Not another one!»

This is a wheeze, a dodge, a distraction, an expensive waste of time and an attempt to wriggle out of the morass he has got himself into,

Its factually the case the case across the world that Jon Harvey is being recognised and reported as Farage's main contender in F’s self imposed by election campaign. It's fascinating that JH's adoption of his Count Bin Face persona and dress has captured the world's media attention. Just proves that right wing, anti immigrant rhetoric is not the only way to capture attention.

The world at large loves a David and Goliath situation and Farage is now presented with a dual challenge:
1) facing Jon Harvey/CBF as his main contender
2) coping with the world news media attention that JH/CBF is his main contender and how that pans out until 13th August in a situation that is entirely of Farage's own making

Perhaps Farage is feeling this heat of this dual challenge as he has called Reform campaign activists to surge and come and help him in Clacton That infers Farage feels he needs the lions share of activist support more than the the con current Greater Manchester Mayoral election candidate? Priorities, priorities- and clearly Farage does not think he is guaranteed voting success at Clacton on either his record to date- or as himself in his current situation.

Farage/Reform has £. lots of money at his campaign disposal. It's exciting and equitable that people are coming forward with £ donations to support John Harvey/CBF in his campaign. We can expect some interesting posters and camping leaflets emerging from now up to 13th August 🤗

Exactly, CLG.

IPSA explains here:

www.theipsa.org.uk/news/a-guide-to-mps-claims

However, there is a provision for an MP to claim expenses for a second residence if their main constituency home is more than 20 miles from Westminster, or if their commute takes more than 60 minutes.

Frinton (in the Clacton constituency) is a 90 minute commute from London Liverpool Street and add on say 15 minutes to get to Westminster So Farage would fall within that parameter to claim for a second home but ... he claims that the house in Frinton is his partner's so I'm not sure there that leaves him.

As an MEP he wasn't shy about claiming expenses so why not as an MP? Was it to do with the murkiness surrounding where the money to buy and renovate his various properties has come from and paying SDLT?

Scroll past and don't read my posts if you don't like them that's what I do you don't have to comment on every post you know. Just joining the nonsense on here about Bin man🙂 but I expect Starmer Tin man is too near the truth for some perhaps.

Are you unable to succinctly put your points across without being rude and insulting???

Graphite Fri 10-Jul-26 16:00:22

I should say, CLG that presupposes he had a second home in London and I’m not sure that he does but he could, in theory, claim expenses for a second home.

foxie48 Fri 10-Jul-26 16:16:27

No, Farage wasn't shy about sclaiming expenses as an MEP. He boasted at having claimed more than £2m !

How very pompous and condescending. Perhaps you would be gracious enough to tell us what you find rude or insulting about this post.

Graphite Fri 10-Jul-26 16:22:22

Indeed, Foxie. I suspect the reason he doesn't claim is because any personal accommodation, personal travelling and other costs are being paid for by his donors to meet the very opulent lifestyle he enjoys.

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Fri 10-Jul-26 16:23:46

As an MEP he will obviously have been one of hundreds on that particular gravy train. Some are still riding it I suppose.

Cossy Fri 10-Jul-26 16:35:19

Primrose53 If it’s not obvious to you, then clearly you don’t find it rude.

Btw calling me “pompous and “condescending” is also quite rude, in my opinion.

I’m not sure why you didn’t take sunshinegirls“advice” to greyfur and “scroll on by…”

🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️

So you’re not “gracious” enough to share why you find sunshinegirls rude and insulting?

I don’t call it rude at all. I have read very much worse on here on many occasions.

Cossy Fri 10-Jul-26 16:46:44

Primrose53 Does it really matter? You don’t find it rude, I do.

It’s far too hot to carry on any kind of argument with you, so I’m graciously bowing out of this particular conversation with you flowers

Violetbynight Fri 10-Jul-26 16:47:21

Farage is doing this because he wants to be elected by hook and by crook. He doesn’t mind if his competitor is Binface, because if Binface loses Farage will be elected and will become more powerful anyway. So, personally, I’m hoping that Binface wins the day.

AGAA4 Fri 10-Jul-26 16:49:02

Well said Cossy.

It does matter because you spoke to sunshinegirls like a very bossy teacher. “Are you unable to succinctly put your points across etc” There’s no need for that.

I feel like this is some kind of weird Groundhog Day.

Farage was elected, two years ago, with a strong majority.

He did not need to resign.

He is trying to prove some weird form of (non) point and frankly all he has done a make a fool of himself, the public of Clacton and our political system.

Wyllow3 Fri 10-Jul-26 18:28:06

Yup.

Nandalot Fri 10-Jul-26 18:37:16

Just seen a clip of Farage campaigning in Walton in the Clacton constituency, yet it was too dangerous to hold surgeries there

Aww thanks Primrose you seem one of the nicer posters on here. It seems to me some people take umbridge at the slightest thing. I think it was triggering to some that I called Starmer Tin Man.

Just had a light bulb moment and realised that all Farage knows what to do is campaign. But once he wins what he campaigns for he has no idea what to do with it. Campaigning is his comfort blanket, his raison d’etre. So when confronted by all of the accusations regarding his finances he creates a situation in which he feels comfortable.

Oh very dangerous place Walton! Full of seagulls and beach huts.

What a truly brave man!

Just to be crystal clear Sunshinegirls, your response to greyfur came across as rude.

I couldn’t give a fig who you call Tin Man, and it certainly didn’t trigger me.

graciemabel Fri 10-Jul-26 21:23:25

Farage is our only saviour and that's a fact!

Chocolatelovinggran Fri 10-Jul-26 21:40:37

Interesting post, graciemabel. Facts, of course, mean something supported by evidence.
Can you provide verification for your assertion that " Farage is our only saviour"?
