In Cairo, Hamas has agreed in principle to hand over its weapons, but not to Israel, Palestinian sources familiar with the negotiations told Haaretz.

According to the sources, the organization has agreed to transfer its weapons to a mutually agreed Palestinian body. How the handover would be implemented, and which arms would be surrendered when, remains unclear, the sources said.

A diplomatic source involved in the Cairo talks told Haaretz that mediators and representatives of the Board of Peace are advancing a proposal that would place all weapons in Gaza under the "full control" of a Palestinian technocratic committee. The source added that Hamas would have no role "either on the front lines or behind the scenes" under the proposed arrangement.

The main point of contention in these talks revolves around which weapons systems would be included, with the focus currently being primarily on heavy weapons and strategic military capabilities, including long-range rockets, heavy mortars, anti-tank missiles and advanced weaponry, as well as weapons manufacturing and storage facilities.

Later on Thursday, a source from the Board of Peace said that significant progress has been made in the talks, and that the board is "close to finalizing" an agreement that could be signed in the coming hours or days. While there "could be last-minute surprises," he said, the Board of Peace believes there are "agreements on the critical points, or close to agreement."

Israeli strikes across the Strip overnight into Thursday morning have killed six people, including two children, and wounded at least 34 others, according to Gazan medics and Palestinian media reports.

Netanyahu did fund Hamas through Qatar. He wanted rid of the Palestinian state and thought that arming Hamas to fight against them would work but as The Times of Israel stated it "blew up in our faces".

So yes Netanyahu is responsible for starting Hamas.

In 2005, Israel withdrew from Gaza. Every settlement was dismantled. Every permanently stationed Israeli soldier left. The world hoped Gaza would become a model for Palestinian self-government and a stepping stone to peace.
Instead, Hamas turned it into a fortress.
After winning the 2006 elections, Hamas violently seized power in 2007, murdered it’s opposition, driving Fatah from Gaza and ending any prospect of democratic rule. In keeping with the Middle East, other than Israel, there have been no further elections. Political opponents were eliminated, dissent was crushed and Gaza was armed by Iran and a became another Islamist dictatorship.

Hamas has only one aim and that is to eradicate all Jews.

Not sure what Hamas is thinking but it seems unlikely they will give in at Trump's request.

To find the actions of Netanyahu and others in Knesset abhorrent is not antisemitic.

Yes Posters, it is the Regime, and not the ordinary decent people of Israel, who face that accusation of Genocide.

All those conflicts mentioned are awful. People suffer in so many countries.

The difference is that Israel portrays itself as a civilised country but the actions of their regime are the opposite of civilised.
The devastation they have caused in Gaza, the numbers of men, women and children they have killed are actions that should not be accepted by anyone.

The Rohinga in Myanmar, which is also enduring a civil war.
But I feel we can make some impact for the people of Gaza.
