According to the Washington Post, Trump is considering an attack on the Islamist terrorist groups based in Mali.
"The Alliance of Sahel States consists of Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger — all West African nations where military leaders have in recent years ousted democratically elected governments in coups, largely cut ties with the West and turned to Russia for security help.
But the administration official pinned the blame not on those governments but on their Russian partners, saying that Moscow “has proven to be an ineffective security partner for Mali.”
“We hope that other African nations take note of Russia’s terrible performance in combating terrorism,” the official said."
This is an interesting and surprising turn of events, has Trump's admiration for Putin dimmed? Could it be because Ukraine has been more successful of late and Trump does like a winner? Or is it a deflection from Trump's problems in the Middle East?
