immediately crashing

His full manifesto reads as follows:

I will boost the region’s economy, prestige and fame.
I will cut your taxes, and raise everyone else’s.
Bus fares to be capped at £1.99, and 99 Flake ice-creams to cost no more than 99p.
I promise to spend more time in Clacton-on-Sea than in Washington DC, and to champion the area.
MPs who resign mid-parliament to be barred from the resulting by-election.
MPs who change party mid-parliament to be forced to face a by-election.
I pledge to build at least one affordable house.
Arcade grabber games to be made fairer so players actually have a chance to win.
Oil and gas companies to pay for solar panels for everyone. (From Jack, aged 10)
Regeneration of Walton Pier so it is just as great as Clacton Pier.
A windfall tax on cosy crime novels written (or 'written') by celebrities.
Potholes to be filled, using copies of the 2024 Labour Party Manifesto.
Parliament to be moved to my new Bin HQ, in Weeley, while the Palace of Westminster is restored.
People who drive past Clacton station with annoyingly loud exhausts to lose their licence.
I will not accept £5million gifts from crypto billionaires (on Earth).
A referendum on whether Pluto should regain its planet status.
The hand-dryer in the gents’ toilet at the Great Himalayas restaurant, Southport to be moved to a more sensible position.
Wayne Rooney to be new expert summariser for the BBC at Eurovision.
Count Binface to represent the UK at Eurovision 2027, with Clacton hosting Eurovision 2028.
I stand by my past manifestos: Ceefax, speakerphones, nationalising Adele, renaming HS2 ‘FFS!’, the hand-dryer at the Crown and Treaty, I’ve got it covered.

Yes, this is all on Farage.

nanna8 Tue 28-Jul-26 11:54:05

Just because Farage is a dick doesn’t mean another dick should also stand.

I think you have just got a hole in one

Just because Farage is a dick doesn’t mean another dick should also stand.

Count Binface has been standing in parliamentary elections for years, (previously as Lord Buckethead until someone claimed copyright of the name). Joke candidates are something of a British institution. There are plenty more among the 34 election candidates for this by election. Binface has just captured people's imaginations.

As others have said, it's Farage who is making a fool of himself and cynically using the good people of Clacton. I very much hope he loses, though I doubt if he will.

Casdon Tue 28-Jul-26 12:28:37

Whatever you think of his methodology, Binface is not a dick. He has amply succeeded in his long term aim of pointing out some of the political failings in this country, the hypocrisy of Farage - and at the end of it all, he will have made a successful long term career as a political satirist. He has not maligned the people of Clacton either, they are going along with him because they think he has a point.

Iam64 Tue 28-Jul-26 13:10:30

If I lived in Clayton, I’d vote Bin Face
In Britain, we have a long tradition of irony and of bringing pompous individuals down from their high horse

AGAA4

I would vote for Binface. He would be a much better MP for Clacton than Farage who has no interest in the people there at all.

You dont care about manifestos at all?

I agree with AGAA4- Count Binface would be a much better MP for Clacton than Farage.

What was Farage's manifesto in 2024for Clacton when he stood as a prospective MP- is it available on line to read? Was Farage honest and openly informed his prospective electorate he would not be holding constituency surgeries for his Clacton constituents? I suspect not.

Has Farage actually delivered in line with his Clacton MP 2024 manifesto- I suspect not.

What is Farage's manifesto for this 2026 by-election- any one know?

At least Count Binface has one 👏

Absolutely agree Casdon. Projecting responsibility for Farage's ridiculous behaviour on Binface unfairly lets Farage off the hook. Rice should be directed to Farage alone for calling this ridiculous by election in Clacton where he was already the sitting MP.

Count Binface has indeed captured the public's imagination, both in the UK and around the world highlighting Farage's ridiculous stunt. Whatever the results are on polling day that's a win for democracy and a win for Count Binface who has legitimately punctured Farage's ego and standing.

What manifesto? The 2024 Reform manifesto, which they loftily called a contract i.e. a legal agreement with the people because Farage claimed manifestos were full of lies, was withdrawn just weeks after the election as unworkable because according to Yusuf, "the sums didn't add up".

There is no local manifesto for Clacton. The people have been sent a "dear neighbour" letter, a tactic which Reform has used in other by-elections, where Farage claims that he is a victim of the establishment.

Postal voting forms have dropped today with constituents knowing little or nothing about the 34 candidates.

M0nica Tue 28-Jul-26 14:55:19

From everything I have read the man behind Binface is a serious, intelligent and thoughtful man and will probably make an excellent constituency MP, as, no doubt will a number of the odd ball candidates.. Certainly better than the MP who has resigned.

It is worth remembering that Volodymyr Zelenskyy, was a comedian before he became the surprised winner of a Ukrainian election. It is interesting to read his biography on Wikpedia wikipedia.org/wiki/Volodymyr_Zelenskyy before dismissing him as a joke candidate.

Maremia Tue 28-Jul-26 14:59:49

Nope, Binface is not a dick.
Perhaps you mean Laurence Fox?

Agreed👏👏👏

Count Binface is definitely not a dick!

LemonJam Tue 28-Jul-26 15:17:11

Just looked up definition of a person described as a 'dick':

A vulgar slang phrase meaning someone is rude, mean, arrogant or unpleasant- an individual who puts their own needs above others and treats people badly.

I'm aware of some of the evidence relation to Farage so can understand why someone might call him by that term- and even Laurence Fox by some of those that have successfully sued him in court etc. But there's absolutely no evidence that Count Binface is any of these things.

I voted for some sort of dustbin for the last London mayoral election, because Khan is such a useless pillock , but the bin sadly lost., 🤷‍♀️🙄

That's an old one. When he was interviewed for Sky after the Makerfield by-election result was announced, the rather flustered reporter had to warn him in case he swore on live TV.

Babamaman Tue 28-Jul-26 16:50:56

Brilliant! I 🙏 people of Clacton will see sense and vote for him! Please please don’t vote Farage ! What has he ever done for Clacton?

FriedGreenTomatoes2 Tue 28-Jul-26 17:35:14

Reminds me of the ‘Boaty McBoatface’ farago. Fun but puff and nonsense really. A distraction. Summer madness.

theworriedwell Tue 28-Jul-26 17:40:35

It's brilliant. I wish I could vote for him.

Casdon Tue 28-Jul-26 17:45:20

It’s not summer madness, it’s serious political point making. Binface will get a significant proportion of the vote. Farage will never shake off the mickey taking, which is just, given this election is of his own making. It’s very likely there will be another election in Clacton in the autumn anyway, so Farage has been hoist by his own petard.

MissAdventure Tue 28-Jul-26 18:11:02

What good will it do for the residents of Clacton, though?

Obviously, none of us can be sure, but although i have never been a betting person, I would be prepared to bet that if he were elected, Binface would actually do far more for the people of Clacton than Farage has. Not that bar could be much lower than it is now!

I hope he wins. Don't trash him. I would not like him to turn out to be a has bin, even if some of his manifesto is rubbish.grin

Not much but I think it was important that the other parties didn’t pander to Farage’s ego.

The people of Clacton will be no worse off if Binface wins. They haven’t had anyone representing them for two years in any real sense. What’s another few months?

Binface wouldn’t be able to enter Parliament because he isn’t standing under his real name and because of the dress code.

There will have to be another by-election, which there will be anyway if Farage wins and is then suspended as a result of the Standards investigation.

Thinking back to the assassination attempt on Trump when Farage rushed to the US. He declared in the MPs’ Register of Interests that he was there “To support a friend who was almost killed and to represent Clacton on the world stage.” All paid for by Harborne.

This stunt has done far more to put Clacton on the world stage … by making Farage a laughing stock. It's probably good for tourism.

I don’t think he will win, but I think it will stop people being disparaging of the local people, because they will have demonstrated they are not the sheep many have been so rude about. It will also have made many of them think hard about who to vote for in the autumn if there is another by election, so they are more likely to get a candidate who cares about the locals.
