It was not just plagiarism, his whole life story was constructed on fantasy and lies, most of which could easily have been disproved. Any student who questioned his ability as a lecturer at various universities was immediately shut down by accusations of racism.

What has happened as a consequence is very tragic but he obviously could not face the shame.
Had anyone had the courage to investigate him much earlier this may never have ended in tragedy.

There have been failures all round.

The reporting of the alleged domestic violence was one thing, Galaxy.

It is very sad that he felt he could no longer live and took his own life.

He was found to have embellished his CV to include visiting professorships which have been denied by the universities.

He embellished his charitable fundraising.

He embellished the sporting/physical challenges he had taken part in.

He aid he was part of a TV series which started before he was born (7 up)

Plagiarism is subjective, but nevertheless needs investigating.

He was put on a pedestal by Cambridge University, and as we have seen time and time again there are always people who know or will find out one’s backstory and destabilise said pedestal.

We do not know why he felt the need for all the embellishments, I doubt we ever will.

If there was a pile on to a white person, I would look to see the reason. For example why was there a pile on to Carolyn Flack?

I am more concerned about the racism that escalated the media assault, that seems to have lead to his death.

If the issue was simply about plagiarism,then the other Academics I mentioned upthread would have generated a similar outcry.

There has been an accusation of plagiarism.
It will be investigated By people who understand the parameters.
If the Family feel that it was a racist pile on that affected them, then I accept that verdict, until proven otherwise.

I will go with how the Family feels about the media onslaught. They cite the racism.

Lets say colour was involved.

Then lets not absolve someone of colour of everything.
That is a dangerous thing to do.
