A shock indeed.
I should be able to find that Good Law Project petition on Facebook.
One of the Posters appeared to be complaining about the mentioning of Cofnas.
I wouldn't touch anything from the 'Good Law Project' with a ten-foot bargepole!
This is what happens when people become passionately, emotionally involved.
They start making statements that they dont know are true.
People will die for a cause, so a bit of exaggeration or fiction or even falsehood for a cause is fine to them, as long as it benefits the cause.
Or I assume thats how they see it. It doesn't work for me so I find it difficult to understand. To me it just casts doubt on everything they say.

😄😄 told you, but hopefully you read it.
Its a bit racist to just to assume that, isnt it?
Black people must have been slaves.

Do you have some particular knowledge about Jason Ardays genealogy ?
What makes you think his ancestors were slaves ?
Seems unlikely me.

This is the way we can make a difference.
But btw, I popped in late last night and see that some are still saying "oh well there is no ned to say more its all been said no need for the thread.
I have thought all day, only GNHQ can decide that!
I still feel every bit of sorrow, anger, distress, political outrage that I did 2 days ago, and that if I wish to say so and carry on:
its not for anyone to shut us up.
Thats odd. Ive just “popped back” to the posts of last night from about nine o clock onwards and I cant see a single one saying “no need to say more, no need for this thread,”
Please direct me to the posts I cannot find.

I will not post the Good Law Project web address directly demanding a public investigation, but I have signed, and if you wish to do so google "Jason Arday: Demand a public inquiry" and view the petition and decide for yourselves.
Yes I’ve signed
Thanks Wyllow will look out for that one.

Where is the compassion in people? This man is dead. What warped satisfaction can there be continually raking it over on social media?
Absolutely. I am ,to some extent guilty of this.

Thanks white wave and thanks for your long post earlier.
I’m still trying to work out how an American black man murdered by a police officer is comparable with JA taking his own life. The obvious connection is they were both black men whose early deaths were aided by white men . Well and some female journalists now rewriting their views to appear more acceptable
This is the original post. We cannot know why Arday committed suicide but to say it was aided by white men is just awful stuff.

Jason Arday is the author of his own misfortune.
May 2023, David Harris, an Emeritus professor at Plymouth Marjon University, emailed Arday to enquire about similarities between sentences in Arday's 2018 Social Sciences article and an earlier BMJ Open article by Anjum Memon. Arday responded: Instead of spending your time trying to dismantle racism and ableism, you have spent what I assume is hours combing through my work looking for mistakes Anything further from you will be considered bullying and harassment. Arday reported Harris for harassment to Devon and Cornwall Police, who concluded there was no case to pursue. Social Sciences published a correction to his article, with revised citations, in December 2023.
Jack Grove, Times Higher Education reporter subsequently investigated Arday's alleged plagiarism, assembling a 63-page report and contacted Arday in September 2025for his response. Arday responded with a legal letter from the firm Carter-Ruck, after which the Times Higher Education chose not to publish the story so as to avoid expensive litigation. Arday also made a complaint about Grove to the Metropolitan Police, who contacted the reporter requesting that he not communicate with Arday again and investigated him for four months, finding no case to answer. Mark Rowley, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police, later acknowledged that the complaint about Grove should not have been taken forward.
Two examples of Arday using accusations of racism to prevent investigation into his work. It is being used to deflect criticism of Arday's appointment and failure to deliver, in contrast to comments from different notable academics that his work was seriously substandard.
More importantly, students at Roehampton University complained about Arday's poor performance as lecturer, tutor and supervisor, including his lack of substantive feedback. A senior tutor, who heard a recording of one of his lectures, told the student not to make a fuss, he will be leaving soon, which he did.
MA students at Cambridge similarly complained about his poor performance, his lack of contact, his cutting tutorial time and missing lectures; they were accused of racism. One student insisted on a replacement despite being called racist; one who was told his work was excellent and required no supervision received a much poorer result than predicted.
The senior tutor initially refused to act, but suddenly changed her mind following the intensive public scrutiny, which has been vindicated
Nothing to do with racism but much evidence of a deliberate denial of Arday's lack of ability and failure to put in sufficient time for his work and responsibilities.
Jason Arday received enormous help and support during his career in academia, but failed to extend the same level of support to his students, which is the most serious fault of all.
Thanks for bothering to find all that, it will of course be dismissed by those all too eager to see racism in this case.
There will have been racist remarks made about him once this was in the public domain but the reporting around his academic credentials and sporting claims wasn’t a racist factor.
