Just so you know - I despise the DM. I buy the Guardian and the I. I look online at the DM headlines. They are often horrifying, when the revolution comes etc., etc. And today, before Dolly Parton is in her coffin, let alone her grave, the dreaded DM had a headline about her being a lesbian…

I don't know of any direct (nonstop) flights from California to Birmingham. That would be very easy for me when visiting.

Maybe it was a private flight? With the right aircraft you could do that.
