I'm on team Carney. A proper statesman.

I liked that Mark Carney described that all Trumps agreements, or decisions as being written in pencil.

He could not be more correct.

I cant help but think it could all backfire.
Could be wrong.

Sorry? Not sure what you mean

Poking the bear.

Trump get his own back, big time, in some way.

I very much doubt it.

However I do think that his behaviour may well get worse after the mid-terms.

Full marks to Carney. The leader Canada needs.

Trump has not done that yet to any world leader who stands up to him though, he actually seems to crumble in the face of adversity.

I respect Carney, he seems an honest man who cares about his country.

It has already backfired. The US is plunging us all into yet another cost of living crisis due to the ongoing war with Iran. Trumps escapades could be called
‘Operation Backfire’.

I agree with all the above and do hope that Burnham does business with Carney as well as getting closer to the EU in order to protect British interests.
The US has become unreliable and dangerous so let’s just forget the special relationship, Trump certainly has.

Trump is a bully and Carney has his mark from the start. You stand up to bullies. Good for him

I do too WW, he's been a breath of fresh air. I've found the flattering approach of other leaders nauseating to say the least, including KS.

Not sure what AB's approach is going to be but I hope he takes a leaf out of Carney's book.

I have been watching and listening to Mark Carney over a number of months, and have come to admire his political instincts and strength he has shown when dealing with Trump.

Whilst the rest of the world decided that flattering Trump was the best way forward, Carney understood that this can never work in the long run, and from the very first Carney made it clear that he will never dance to Trump’s tune.

It has become clear that America can no longer be depended on for either trade or as a defence partner, and Carney, as a result has focused on negotiating trade agreement with a number of countries, and is just embarking on a massive trade agreement with the EU.

Carney’s political instincts are showing real results, and I envy Canada their leader.
