Does Farage ever stop (breaking rules)

So up popped my news this morning, yesterday Farage was sworn in (again), then, on the very first day of Parliament this session, went up onto the roof and filmed a social media. Completely against the rules, for extremely obvious reasons.

What is wrong with this man? Surely he, out of everyone, understands the meaning of national security?

Blimey indeed. Well

What a surprise

Not.

And all that fuss with Starmer taking a pair of glasses and a footie concession. Certainly puts things in perspective, doesn't it? 🤬

Wyllow3 Thu 03-Sept-26 21:56:09

Well yes, what's the point of discussion if we don't agree or disagree and maybe learn from what we read from each other?

As regards "being right" the reality is there is often no "right and wrong" as in provable absolutes in politics as in this or that policy,

but there most definitely is in criminal activity or taking money from dubious sources to fund UK activities like right or left wing propaganda funded from abroad

Plenty of people don’t share your views and will vote for Farage. I don’t agree with his views but I don’t take such a ‘I’m in the right’ stance. It sounds like you think you have the moral high ground.

Referring too the findings of this investigative journalism is not taking an “I’m in the right stsbce. It’s a group of gransnetters discussing Farage, his team and alleged criminal activity

Annewilko Thu 03-Sept-26 21:09:26

Wait until you see what ch4 news has broadcast this evening. More money changing dirty hands.

Casdon Thu 03-Sept-26 21:08:42

If Farage has broken the law on electoral issues though Olivebranch, people’s views won’t make any difference because he will not remain as an MP. He might even end up in prison.

Just watched the channel 4 programme- police investigation should follow- surely. The opinion that The Electoral Commission is “useless” just shows the level of contempt the party holds for rules and safeguards in place to protect democracy and the public interest.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 03-Sept-26 20:14:24

That’s exactly what I thought about the polls. It sounded as if they were totally made up. And I do think the Telegraph and Times were complicit - although of course it will be strongly refuted.

It is all so murky

Graphite Thu 03-Sept-26 20:11:08

There are a number of issues as well as the foreign money being solicited in this film.

Were the polls which this “donor” paid for on behalf of Reform and printed in the Telegraph and Times as “independent” based on genuine polling? The polling company did not disclose that Reform had paid for them.

In the conversation that Dukes had in the street, he mentions other donations which have come from overseas and been filtered through UK residents. The names were bleeped out but they are on the tape so those need to be investigated. I wonder if one of the names is John Simpson the churchwarden alleged to have made a £200,000 donation to Reform on behalf of the Ghandehari family.

As the Lib man said - this isn’t Trumps America, and it must not come to the U.K.

Here, here

Iam64 Thu 03-Sept-26 19:57:58

I watched the ch4 programme, it’s good to see serious investigative journalism. The Greens, Labour and LibDems all calling for a police investigation. All heroes

BlueBelle Thu 03-Sept-26 19:57:36

Oh it’s great fun on channel 4 at last

Casdon Thu 03-Sept-26 19:56:04

Crikey.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 03-Sept-26 19:55:24

Yes. All the other political parties are referring it to the police.

James Orr, Dan Jukes and Farage going to jail?

Well, judging by tonight it should be a slam dunk, but it won’t happen.

Good bit of journalism though.

What is the betting that Chris Mason (BBC politics journalist) is at the Reform conference. He promotes Farage at every opportunity.

Oh yes, I just looked it up - this is what the NUJ had to say, they are understandably not happy.

….and now he’s in America again I believe…

Is he? He had better hurry back as he's giving a "keynote" speech at conference tomorrow at 3:50pm - although every speech of the day is listed as keynote.

He's then hosting a champagne breakfast on Saturday morning. VIP ticket £3,000. What do you mean, you haven't bought one?

He is at the Reform Conference, which started today, apparently no media allowed.

Wyllow3 Thu 03-Sept-26 17:28:20

Its incredible. I wish his constituents had all had lists of his sources of income, his trips, and this sort of thing.

Do people know about his links with Jacob Rees Mogg as in the Mogg of the Conservatives? this is AI reports from Sky News, looking into the Bruges Group, (wiki) and Conservative Home

Rees-Mogg has consistently urged for cooperation between the Conservative Party and Reform UK, stating he remains a Tory to bring the broader family of the right together.

Advising Reform: Farage declared readiness to advise Jacob Rees Mogg on dismantling key human rights and climate change regulations to prevent the Civil Service from blocking a future Reform government's agenda.

High-Profile Sightings: The political figures have fueled alliance rumors after being spotted leaving Boodles private members club in central London shortly apart from one another.

Defending Farage: Rees-Mogg publicly defended Farage on GB News regarding parliamentary standards investigations, framing political pressure on Farage as an establishment "hit job" and warning that political opponents are desperate to halt Reform's momentum.

Family Connections: Highlighting the close proximity of the two camps, Rees-Mogg noted that his own daughter, Mary, decided to join Reform UK.

Furthermore, and this is most significant to me

*The Trump administration's state department plans to allocate $12 million in grants to UK organisations founded by prominent conservatives Jacob Rees-Mogg and Toby Young*(the Guardian)

And more from the Guardian:

The Group:

The funding includes $7 million designated for 878, a think tank co-founded by Jacob Rees-Mogg that focuses on cultural issues and immigration.

The Purpose: The intended grants are part of a broader package of financial support aimed at European groups favoured by the Trump administration

(The Backlash: Former US officials and critics have condemned the move as an improper use of public funds intended to exert influence over foreign politics and British democracy).

I looked up the 878 group to see details of this right wing alliance and funding. The New World publication revealed that

"Will the Conservatives agree to a pact with Reform ahead of the next general election? Absolutely not, insisted Kemi Badenoch, saying after Reform’s poor showing in this month’s parliamentary byelections: “The results have left the idea of the Conservatives doing a deal with Reform stone-dead.”

But that has not stopped a number of her MPs working behind the scenes on some sort of agreement with Nigel Farage.

Even back in June, the Telegraph reported that a "growing chorus of conservative politicians wanted to "unite the right" an elector strategy in which Reform or tory candidates would stand aside in certain seats.

Look up the 878 aims

He obviously can't handle doing things normally.
