Daniel “Tommo” Thomas charged, no bail.

“Tommo” has been arrested for the slashing of the dinghy, he appeared in court today and denied bail.

A Syrian migrant appeared in court accused of raping a 15 year old schoolgirl and sexually assaulting another teenager.

He has been bailed until his hearing on 1 August 2028!

We could argue all day long as to wether Tommo should have done what he did, the point is he going to spend his first night in prison when a potential paedophile and rapist is not behind bars and could disappear in the 22 months before his trial.

This is why so many people are so angry, it Lucy Connolly all over again.

Maremia

Yes, Graphite, for whom are the young voting?

I heard on the radio that some young say they will vote Reform
They had no idea what Reform or any of the political parties were about but liked the word Reform and also Green which they again knew nothing about but liked green eco ideas.
So those young ones who will actually bother to vote in a future GE will very likely vote for one of those.

LemonJam Tue 29-Sept-26 14:13:23

Three years to go till next GE in 2029 - we will see many more ups and down in polls till then if the past week is anything to go by!

Oreo Tue 29-Sept-26 14:16:54

Oh we certainly will I expect

Maremia Tue 29-Sept-26 14:20:44

Thanks Oreo

Yes Oreo So much for the Burnham bounce perhaps he's got a slow punture smile infact his balloon never really took off did it.

Yes I think some people are upset about Danny Tommo he has a big following and Reform are agreeing that he should have been allowed bail and the perceived double standards ie two tier justice being handed out so perhaps they are turning to Reform who knows the final judgement will be at the ballot box.

LemonJam Tue 29-Sept-26 15:16:53

People may turn away from other parties towards Reform because of some perceived miscarriage of justice that DT was not granted bail? I have no words...

Does anyone know the reasons why the judge did not to grant his bail application? not usually published so as not to predjudice trail proceedings. Why is that judges decision the fault of other parties such that people should turn away from those parties towards Reform.

What is Reform planning to do about the independence of the UK judiciary to make bail application decisions?

He has the right as does everyone- to appeal if he feels judge made wrong decision. That is evidence of one tier justice- not 2 tier.

Do stop talking nonsense PLD.

Bail isn’t a two-tier system. Whether someone gets bail or not is based on the law not someone’s perceived popularity amongst a small segment of the population.

Thomas has a previous conviction for a very serious crime. He was never going to get bail. His brief will have appraised him of this. No amount of showboating was going to sway a judge whose job it is to apply and uphold the law.

Simon Pentol KC, defending, had proposed a "package of bail conditions" as an alternative to Thomas being remanded in custody and described the allegation against his client as "politically charged and fundamentally flawed”. (BBC)

Also nonsense. 1. He filmed himself slashing property which was in the possession of the French authorities and 2. He has refused to give his PIN to police so they can examine the content of his devices so they have charged him under Section 53 RIPA.

On his decision to refuse bail, the Judge James Newton-Price KC, said: "I am not concerned with the political issues or motivations in this matter and I put them aside in deciding this matter.” (BBC)

That's how it's perceived like it or not and obviously a lot of people don't. It's cries of two tier justice all over the internet.

Primrose53 Tue 29-Sept-26 16:00:15

Who does the punctured boat belong to?

Poor wee Tomo. Did he cry again?

By those who don't understand how the CJS works?

As I pointed out, the worrying part is the length of time the other man will be out on bail before the trial comes to court and the impact this could have on his alleged victims, which is wrong.

LemonJam Tue 29-Sept-26 16:02:11

Like it or not such perceptions are ill informed and fuelled by speculation and conspiracy theories such as Farage's.

In reality it isn't 2 tier justice and DT has the right of appeal. His KC knows the law so he has the benefit of expensive legal advice. The judge's comments were clear.

I guess speculators across the internet are not so interested in such matters.

Peacelilydilly Tue 29-Sept-26 16:13:45

I don't suppose they are and when it comes to voting.they won't be either. It's not just this case though is it look at the marches in London and how different these were policed. Lucy Connoly young mother denied bail to see her daughter for a hurty tweet she deleted and the man who threw a plastic bottle that didn't even hit anyone 2 years in prison.while others who hold different views not even charged. So whether it's true or not it certainly looks like it's one rule for one group and another for the others.

LemonJam Tue 29-Sept-26 16:33:01

DT has only himself to blame for his current situation. Not 2 thier justice at all. DT is a far right activist and convicted kidnapper who was inspired by the riots in Belfast then founded his anti immigrant campaign group called Patriot Platform.

In April this year he promoted protests in Epsom after it was falsely claimed that a woman had been gang raped. Speculation that led to protests.

He's been banned from entering France for engaging in anti-migrant vigilantism.

He pleaded guilty to one charge and not guilty to another 5 charges related to threatening, abusive words or behaviours etc to asylum seekers who landed at port of Dover in August 2026. As he was not remanded to prison on that occasion it is a reasonable inference he was released on bail pending court appearance for those charges in October 2026- bail conditions not published- as per the norm.

It would be a reasonable inference to suspect when DT made his September 2026 film footage, now subject to further new charges, he breached his August 2026 bail conditions. Danger of doing so always emphasised.

When someone breaches bail conditions in the UK the police can arrest you immediately, without a warrant and you may be immediately remanded in custody or face stricter terms. A judge or magistrate can revoke your bail entirely and keep you in prison until your trial- simple as.

Further, breaching bail rules hurts your credibility and makes judges less likely to grant you bail in the future- simple as.

I can't tell you how many times I've tried to drum in the message to teenagers on release from police custody - keep your nose clean and comply with bail conditions, to the letter, until your case comes to court. There are no second chances on bail breach.

DT is a grown adult he knows the score.

LemonJam Tue 29-Sept-26 16:35:02

LC- 'hurty tweet' - you really fall for some rubbish conspiracy theories LPD.

Peacelilydilly Tue 29-Sept-26 16:39:38

Me and millions of others it seems and they will.hold these views at the ballot box.

Doodledog Tue 29-Sept-26 16:42:07

I wonder which journalist or X poster coined the 'hurty words' soundbite which is so relentlessly copied by people seemingly unable to come up with their own ways to express their views?

Whoever it was, I bet they wish they got copyright fees - they would be worth a fortune!

Peacelilydilly Tue 29-Sept-26 16:46:31

It was me and no I've not received my royalities yet smile

LemonJam Tue 29-Sept-26 16:48:44

'Millions and millions' believe in such ridiculous conspiracy theories- not sure I agree on that- but I accept that is your view. I have faith the majority of UK voters are more discerning.

Reform gained a handful of MPs at the last GE so a long way to go yet. But I do agree it is the ballot box views at a GE that counts. I doubt Reform will win a majority at the next GE or the GE after that.

In a hung parliament scenario- a possibility - I can't easily see any other of the major parties would agree to work with Reform and/or Farage as he is so divisive. Thus Farage/ Reform, if such a scenario arose, would find it very difficult to form a majority coalition.

Doodledog Tue 29-Sept-26 16:50:08

If that's the case, you should apply to lead the Ministry of Propaganda - given the number of times it's been parroted you'd be a shoo-in.

Who does the punctured boat belong to?

In law it would belong to the people smugglers 🤷‍♀️
They are the people who bought it from Chinese manufacturers.
Only problem there would be proving it. There’s hardly going to be any paper work.

LemonJam Tue 29-Sept-26 17:21:28

The boat was originally owned by the person smuggler who sold passage to asylum seekers. However it had been abandoned by the smuggler- highly unlikely to come forward to seek repossession.

By the time DT was filmed slashing the boat it was adrift at sea with a rescue worker on board. So the abandoned boat by that stage was in passion of rescue services.

Maremia Tue 29-Sept-26 17:23:46

'Hurty words'?
Was that the offical charge?
Are you actually aware of what she tweeted?

Casdon Tue 29-Sept-26 17:24:18

There’s an agreement between France and the UK for the boats to be examined, then destroyed, including motors and equipment so that they cannot be reused.

It still belongs to the people smugglers although the rescue workers could claim salvage rights, if it's worth it. In this case I doubt that very much.
