butterandjam asked PeaceLilyDilly to provide a list.

I helped her/him out[I dont know her at all], as I dont like posters[not butterandjam] dismissing things or anyone, because essentially the opinions or person or person talked about may not be liked.

Btw, Farage does not have “decades” in British politics, he has been a British MP for a little over 2 years!

He was an MEP for several years, if not decades, but this gave him zero authority or say in our own Parliament. (But it did give him a jolly nice pension, which he happily accepted!, oh the irony of it all!)

^AI Overview Supporters of Nigel Farage often point to several key political predictions and thematic arguments he made over his multi-decade career in British politics that they argue have been vindicated by subsequent events.Key Predictions and OutcomesThe Inevitability of a Brexit Vote: For over two decades, Farage argued that public dissatisfaction with the European Union would eventually force the UK to leave. While dismissed for years by mainstream politicians, this was realized with the 2016 EU Referral outcome resulting in Brexit. The Rise of Populist Politics: Farage predicted that working-class voters who felt abandoned by traditional center-left and center-right parties would revolt against the political establishment. This trend manifested in the UK with UKIP's success, the 2016 Leave vote, the collapse of Labour's "Red Wall" in 2019, and the subsequent growth of Reform UK.The Decline and Internal Warfare of the Conservative Party: In the lead-up to the 2024 general election, Farage predicted that the Conservative Party was headed for historic electoral disaster and prolonged internal "warfare" due to its failure to control immigration. The 2024 election resulted in the Tories' worst defeat in modern history, followed by fierce ideological battles over the leadership and future direction of the British right. The Salience of Immigration as a Core Political Issue: Throughout his career, Farage insisted that mass immigration would become the defining issue of British electoral politics, affecting public services and societal infrastructure. Once considered a fringe viewpoint by Westminster, net migration levels and border security (specifically "stopping the boats") became central campaign pillars for all major UK political parties by the mid-2020s.Eurozone Instability: During his time as a Member of the European Parliament (MEP), Farage frequently predicted that the structural flaws of the Eurozone would trap southern European economies (such as Greece and Italy) in permanent low growth and high debt, a perspective later echoed by various economists during the European debt crisis.Counter-Perspectives and ContextWhile his supporters view these outcomes as proof of political foresight, critics offer a different interpretation. Opponents argue that Farage did not simply predict these outcomes, but actively manufactured them through populist rhetoric. Furthermore, critics point out that many of Farage's specific policy promises—such as immediate economic windfalls following Brexit—have faced intense scrutiny, and his political career has been frequently punctuated by controversies regarding factual accuracy, party finances, and campaign rhetoric^

Sorry if I’m being really obtuse, what is your point?

Is this in support of Farage, proving a point, or ….. I’m just not sure why you posted this, I would imagine any of us here already far more about Farage than we ever wanted to grin

Cossy Sun 27-Sept-26 11:24:14

Btw, it’s such a shame Farage chooses not to publicise what the LP have done in this area and that people arriving are down by a whopping 43% compared to this time last year.

He's been proved correct with the number of boats coming over, he was one of the first in the channel recording this. Google and watch it.

I don’t need to, he partially caused this situation himself, due to pushing and pushing for a Brexit referendum and then running a rather one sided campaign. Think UKIP, think The Brexit Party, all of which morphed into The Reform “Party”/Limited Company.

Many of us “know” of Mr Farage since his MEP days, when he “grifted” just as much as he does now, with one of the lowest attendance and voting record in the MEP Parliament as he does in the HoC.

I’m not disputing he’s right about some things nor that MPs often laugh about him in parliament.

He’s an extremely unpopular MP in all parties bar his own, which is actually quite unusual, as often all the “blustering” rather pathetic behaviour from all MPs partywide within the HoC, however often outside these doors they’re normally quite civilised.

I wonder if Nigel Farage will be proved right again as he has with many things over the years.

Which other things? Do provide a list.

Oreo Sun 27-Sept-26 11:11:01

Since the incident is near RAF Fairford in Glos, which is where US bombers are stationed it’s far more likely to have something to do with an extreme Palestine supporting group.

Jaxjacky Sun 27-Sept-26 11:05:05

I agree Cossy there is a school of thought that various incidents recently across Europe have been implemented by Russian operatives. Russia are not happy with support for Ukraine.
As you said, they have free movement, no need for a small boat 🙂.

However to “quote” Farage and to accuse Labour MPs of laughing at him is pretty rich

Google it and watch it.

It’s not great, but before making any further comments on this incident, I will wait for further details,

However to “quote” Farage and to accuse Labour MPs of laughing at him is pretty rich.

However Iran are a threat. Russia are a far greater threat and manage to get here quite legally and have done so for years.

Trump, and his ludicrous outbursts and out of control behaviour is the biggest threat of all currently. (IMHO)

fancythat Sun 27-Sept-26 10:33:37

AI Overview MPs shouted "shame on you" and heckled Reform UK leader Nigel Farage in the House of Commons after he claimed that small boat crossings could include "the odd Iranian terrorist".

AI doesnt say Labour.
But does mention that Jeremy Corbyn asked how Farage knew this.

He said that Iranian operatives were coming over on the small boats he even mentioned it in Parliament but of course all the Labour MPs laughed.

Nobody laughs at our security - that is ridiculous.

Of course our security services are constantly looking at everything and everybody.

Those people could well have been home grown as not.

And be very confident that nothing is as straightforward as it looks.

Too soon to speculate! All will become clear.

What? Do you mean supporting Trump’s war on Iran?

fancythat Sun 27-Sept-26 09:38:35

^ a few months back Iran said this was a legitimate target due to it being used by the US for the Iran war.^

If I remember correctly.

Not that that necessarily has anything to do with this.

The Army has sent in its bomb squad after several men were arrested on suspicion of explosives offences near an RAF base.

A major incident has been declared and residents have been evacuated from “a number” of homes in the Whelford area, near RAF Fairford, in Gloucestershire.

Several men have been arrested on suspicion of offences under the Explosives Act.

RAF Fairford hosts United States air force personnel and has been used to launch operations against Iran during the war in the Middle East.

Gloucestershire Police said the Army’s specialist explosive ordnance disposal team were at the scene examining vehicles.

A police cordon is in place at the scene. Officers said the incident was “contained”.
