The Greens say they want Israel to be 'replaced' with one state.

What do they actually mean by 'replace' the state of Israel (as reported on BBC News tonight)? Tell me, any members of the Green party out there: does your party want to destroy the State of Israel? Is that now part of the Green manifesto? Very troubling if it is.

Only the most (deliberately?) unaware could possibly think that 7th October was a benign date to stage a pro Palestine march. It's an absolute insult to the victims who suffered an outrageous attack. No matter your thoughts and opinions on what has been done since under the command of Netanyahu , they were total innocents. Those gorgeous babies Ariel and Kfir Bibas were kidnapped along with their mother and murdered just one month later. How sick and depraved must you be to think that date is suitable for a pro Palestine march.
I despise and condemn anyone who joins that and thinks they're 'the good ones'. Choose another date, don't display your inhumanity and lack of respect.

Have we really forgotten what the current regime is up to in Israel.

Have they really forgotten what happened on 7th October 2023?

March on any other day but if Quakers care and are calling for peace, as we would all welcome, perhaps they could quietly reflect on what happened on that dresdful day and choose another day to march.

Oreo Mon 05-Oct-26 22:22:20

You appear to have forgotten the significance of the 7th October Wyllow3 so maybe those peaceniks and Quakers have too !
They could have their march/ protest on Saturday or any other day but have chosen the 7th which is the anniversary of the terrible massacre in Israel by hamas.
That’s the kind of people they are.

Wyllow3 Mon 05-Oct-26 21:54:32

Oreo

London students are Hell bent on a pro Palestinian march on October 7th ( Wednesday) especially chosen by them to be offensive.Green voters to a man/woman I expect.

No, there are peaceniks in there, Quakers, others who really care about Gaza and the West Bank. Watch out for the Jewish contingent if it's anything like previous marches, Have we really forgotten what the current regime is up to in Israel.

Yes the L Party will benefit from the Greens new direction: in a local council election that was proved by overturning a previously Green occupied post by over a 1000 votes for the LP, about a month ago.

I fee sad for traditional Greens: the environment does matter far more - despite the summers' weather - its not been talked enough of - and as far as I am concerned its a weak point for Burham.

No-one can excuse what Hamas/Gaza did in Israel.

Quite right. That horrendous night seems to have been forgotten somehow 😥

Nor forgotten, but the 1,200 civilians killed in that atrocity has been put into perspective by the 77,000 palestinians killed by the IDF (& by settlers in the West Bank) in vengeance.

Cumbrianmale56 Mon 05-Oct-26 20:08:44

Opinion polls suggest support for the Greens is falling to around 10%, from 17% in the spring. Maybe people have realised this isn't a party concerned about the environment, but a hard left party full of anti semites. It wouldn't surprise me if the supporters of Jeremy Corbyn have found a new home, as Your Party has collapsed.
Given the choice, I'd much rather have Andy Burnham than Zack Polanski. Also changing his name to Polanski has an unfortunate connotation with a sex offending film director.

Galaxy Mon 05-Oct-26 17:43:09

Yes deeply deeply divisive, fostering antisemitism and anti Muslim sentiment.
I mean it will also lead to the end of the green party in terms of electoral success, for some that will be viewed as a disaster, not me obviously but presumably many of their members will view it as such.

saintpiran Mon 05-Oct-26 17:42:50

Well said Galaxy, we are importing other countries conflicts to be fought over on our streets. Can't believe the Home Secretary will be fast tracking Palestinian migrants, the Jewish population must be even more terrified than before.

fancythat Mon 05-Oct-26 17:42:19

Romans 11 and Ephesians 2, for example.

Israelites as a tribe were "God's Chosen People".
Tribalism is no longer suited to the present day .There are no longer any people specially chosen .

Oh but there are.

Jews will be "grafted back in" at Judgement time.
I will find the Bible verses sometime.

There will still be some of "God's chosen people" up to Judgement Day.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 05-Oct-26 17:35:27

A disaster?

Galaxy Mon 05-Oct-26 17:34:02

Palestine and Israel. Whatever word you want to use, war, conflict, etc. Fighting this out within our politics or on our streets via the marches is a disaster.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 05-Oct-26 17:29:52

What war are you talking about galaxy?

Galaxy Mon 05-Oct-26 17:23:51

Fighting this war on our streets will categorically not end well.

Luckygirl3 Mon 05-Oct-26 16:41:16

Westerners dividing up the map for the rest of the world has never ended well ...

Galaxy Mon 05-Oct-26 16:10:49

I agree Oreo that it wont make any difference to Israel but it will make Jewish people in this country scared.
Anti semitism and misogyny from the greens, the only comfort is it will be the end of the greens, and yes burnham will benefit greatly from this.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 05-Oct-26 12:46:45

Zionism was an ideology that was initiated in Russia as a result of the pograms.

The belief that jews should have as a right. and for historic reasons should have their own state is a belief that is world wide. It is fully supported by the UN. It is not solely a zionist belief. Where many fall out with zionism is with its expasionism and it is that we are witnessing in the West Bank and Gaza as well as the rhetoric of the israeli government.

eazybee Mon 05-Oct-26 12:21:12

I somehow doubt if many voters, young or old, are particularly concerned with the 'intellectual coherence' of the party they chose to vote for, ( subtly different from their chosen party).

Smileless2012 Mon 05-Oct-26 12:20:53

I feel as you do Magenta and as is said on every thread we've had about this situation, criticising the genocide being carried out by Israel is not supporting Hamas and/or forgetting the atrocities of October 7th 2023.

Caleo Mon 05-Oct-26 12:18:32

To believe that Israelites have a unique right to own a tract of land from the river to the sea is not Judaism .

Jews believe that the the state of Israel is responsible for and has duties to all who dwell there---including Muslims, Christians, and native Palestinians.
If you don't believe me ask me ask the rabbis.

Not by me, I well remember 7 October 2023. It will be three years since it occurred on Wednesday.

I do not offer any defence for what Hamas did but it did not involve the entire population of the Gaza Strip.

In my opinion and without diminishing the horror of that day in 2023, the fact that Israeli troops under Netanyahu have behaved with criminal barbarity and killed thousands of innocent people, many of whom were not even born in 2023, is indefensible.

Smileless2012 Mon 05-Oct-26 12:11:46

That's right Caleo.

Caleo Mon 05-Oct-26 12:09:37

However "God's Chosen People" are chosen ,by God, not because they are a superior tribe, but because their covenant with God involves responsibilities and duties to others and the land we all share

Betony Mon 05-Oct-26 12:07:22

According to this morning's Guardian, the main activist who pushed for the Greens to vote that 'Zionism is Racism' is a person called Salma Yakoub, who was George Galloway's colleague in his Respect party. I always remember thinking at the time that the Respect party had been cynically created by Galloway to elicit Muslim votes. Now Respect no longer exists, it looks as if the Greens are being used for this purpose. I guess we'll have to wait and see if they are successful.
