The Greens say they want Israel to be 'replaced' with one state.

What do they actually mean by 'replace' the state of Israel (as reported on BBC News tonight)? Tell me, any members of the Green party out there: does your party want to destroy the State of Israel? Is that now part of the Green manifesto? Very troubling if it is.

I'm never again going to vote Green until they ditch Polanski, go back their ecological roots and rid themselves of anti-Semitism.

Rosie51 Mon 05-Oct-26 00:21:08

I don't think they're ever going back to their roots, various ideologies, in my opinion, have completely replaced their former base. I think they may just qualify as the most antisemitic political party. They seem unable to step outside Palestinian and transgender concerns. Even 4 out of 5 of their elected MPs were against the latest motion passed by conference.

They should get their noses out of other people’s affairs and concentrate on their own country.

Galaxy Mon 05-Oct-26 06:54:22

People have been shouting fascist in the wrong direction.
It does mean however the end of the green party and also an end to any suggestion of coalition with the labour party if the votes dont add up at next election.

I have said for a long time I am more worried about Polanski’s Greens than Reform or Restore…

CarrotTop Mon 05-Oct-26 07:53:02

So, just as we created a huge problem in the first place by creating modern Israel, the Greens now want us to create a whole other problem by "managing" other people's affairs for them? I wonder what the people living there will think when we weigh in yet again?

Galaxy Mon 05-Oct-26 08:04:24

It wont make any difference to Israel. They aren't going to care what the green party think. A self inflated idea of their own importance is also one of the greens flaws.

Sago Mon 05-Oct-26 08:28:03

The Greens are dangerous!

Oreo Mon 05-Oct-26 08:38:41

It won’t make any difference to Israel but will make all Jews here feel more fearful with what’s going on in British politics.
The antisemitic Labour voters and members all went over to the Greens and changed Green ideals completely.
Also as Green members decide policy not the ones at the top it’s a licence to be as antisemitic as they like.
Not exactly democratic either as only the members that were able to get to the Conference in Brighton were able to vote, about 1% of their membership.
Caroline Lucas and others tried to get members to accept amendments to no avail.
One was that their Jewish members wouldn’t be persecuted for attending a Synagogue that Greens deemed ‘Zionist’.
That amendment was turned down.
Believe me, a vast swathe of these new Green members are just appalling people.
Polanski himself made sure he was elsewhere for the vote so couldn’t be castigated. He is another Farage in different garb.

This party has morphed into the ridiculous. On another matter, a physiotherapist and woman's health campaigner who was speaking via Zoom about pelvic floor disfunction when a group of protesters from LGBTIQA Greens or whatever they call themselves interrupted the speaker Elaine Miller, unfurled a large trans flag in front of the screen to block her presentation. They, the protesters deemed it a "safeguarding issue" confused However, organisers from The Green Party Women's Group physically intervened to keep the screen visible. Well some have to be the adults in the room. Just imagine having to put up with that load of bollocks. Eye roll emoji required!

AGAA4 Mon 05-Oct-26 08:55:14

A Green supporter had said they had fallen so far away from what they were originally about that he and others had left the party.
This could be the end of the Green Party in it's present form.

Anti-Semitism should have no place in the Green Party, or any other party. I can't help feeling that rent-a-mob has taken over under Polanski.

Shocking Oreo! I remember my mum occasionally voted for them years ago, purely for their stance on environmental issues.I know if she were alive now she'd be horrified in what they represent today, particularly as regards to their anti semitism.

eazybee Mon 05-Oct-26 09:01:53

All these antics intentionally generate a great deal of publicity and will attract the subversives, and their votes, whose aim in life is to create as much trouble for whoever they regard as the current Establishment

Whitewavemark2 Mon 05-Oct-26 09:10:45

It is so sad to see.

Of course the Greens are rather anarchic in the way they conduct themselves, without the party discipline you see in other political parties, and do you get all these more outlandish student types playing fast and loose.

When led by Caroline Lucas, it became a political party that was respected.

Polenski’s rhetoric initially attracted the young, but I suspect that since his more outlandish speeches, it has encouraged the daft brigade. They will learn, but too late I think.

The Greens have gone from showing so much promise to a lot of idiocy. Their credibility is shot.

vegansrock Mon 05-Oct-26 09:20:18

All the corbynites have taken over the Greens. I would have voted for them in the past but not now. I think their credibility has gone down the toilet.

friendlygingercat Mon 05-Oct-26 09:24:30

Israel is a terrorist state. No one can excuse what they did in Gaza. Many Israeli citizens have demonstrated against their extremist government.

eazybee Mon 05-Oct-26 09:30:47

No-one can excuse what Hamas/Gaza did in Israel.

Cumbrianmale56 Mon 05-Oct-26 09:38:27

The original Green Party, the Ecology Party, was a relatively harmless party that was concerned about animal welfare, pollution and the countryside, things most people would agree about. Now the modern Green Party seems to have been hijacked by the far left and has some dangerous policies like legalising hard drugs and allowing unlimited immigration. I'm glad to see the Greens slumping in the polls.

Quite right. That horrendous night seems to have been forgotten somehow 😥

That was very strange. Why the leader of a Party would absent themselves from such a controversial vote is very odd. If he was trying to distance himself from the decision, he has failed.

The problem with the increasingly dangerous Green Party is that many young people are swayed by some of their ideals and, if the voting age is lowered, they could increase the numbers of MPs.

Polanski was apparently campaigning in Holborn and St Pancras. He couldn't wait another day? It sounds like a case of sloping shoulders. He has now been banned from entering Israel, not that that will bother him.

What Netanyahu is doing is wrong, and many of his fellow citizens do not agree with his campaign of violence.

Do the Greens want another Jewish diaspora? Surprising because Polanski claimed that his family fled Pogroms and Nazi persecution.

Me too. Ever since Polanski appeared I saw him as a wolf in sheep's clothing. Dangerous. Of course youngsters will fall for their rhetoric but we'll have to see whether this will attract many more followers now they have pinned their flag to the mast.

Whitewavemark2 Mon 05-Oct-26 11:50:29

Burnham will definitely benefit from this. There are a lot of young professionals who left the Labour Party during the Starmer time.

Polanski is too left wing populist for many now. There is no intellectual coherence in the in the Green Party any more.

Visgir1 Mon 05-Oct-26 11:53:27

So in the past am I right in thinking that the Green Party was obsessed with the environment? Now it's just obsessed with Gaza!
Think they should be renamed, "The Green party" is a miss-representation.
