Sorry for repeating your post Graphite, I was typing as you posted.

This has nothing to do with the Labour early release scheme as it relates to his release on 17th October last year.

Absolutely shocking nevertheless and her family will indeed be furious.

But….he could have done the very same thing if he hadn’t been released early but when he did come out.
I would have moved away if I had been her.

This isn’t quite what you are describing.

He was released last year having served 40% of a 12 month sentence instead of 50%.

He had been convicted of possession of a bladed article and harassment.

He had been in prison on remand since May 2025 when he was released on licence from HMP Wandsworth on 17 October 2025.

Robert Sabat, a prisoner serving a sentence for knife offences and harassing a former partner, was released in the first wave of Labour's early release scheme in October 2026.
He returned to the home he was sharing with his partner and days after being released, murdered her. He has been handed a life sentence of 17 years and 1 month and is back in prison.
This poor lady's family must be furious with a Government who think this is an acceptable solution to prison overcrowding.
