How can *anybody* still see this man as any kind of statesman or world leader?

In The Times today

President Trump has called Norway a “shithouse country” and said that Norwegian immigrants were not welcome in the US
The comments at a political rally in Port Huron, Michigan, a week before the midterm elections, were Trump's latest in a protracted tantrum over not being awarded a Nobel peace prize by the committee.
Using a term he has previously applied to Haiti, Libya, Somalia and Yemen, Trump said: “Frankly, Norway sucks. Norway has become a shithouse country, actually “
The US leader said he would welcome immigrants from some countries but not from Norway “because I didn't get the Nobel prize … So I don't want anybody from Norway.”

What a complete to***r! Is there any leader or country he’s not criticised or basically insulted.

Why on earth does Trump think thing any self respecting Norwegian would wish to emigrate to the USA?

Why on earth does he think making comments such as these win him any votes except from the most ardent and deluded voters and the uneducated reconnects from the swamps.

Please, please My Trump, go far far away and never return!

TBH I didn't understand how anyone ever saw this sociopath as any kind of statesman or world leader when he was elected the first time.

I can remember sort of being vaguely aware of this odd business man whose penchant was for a certain kind of eastern block woman and whose business practices and life choices seemed very dodgy. Then I became fully aware of him before the 2016, utterly misunderstanding what was happening in the USA, and thinking he was a total joke and that no one would vote for such a fool.

Well I was wrong, but it taught me a lesson which is never to underestimate these dangerous people, and understand that people will vote for anyone if they are desperate enough. Of course they are turning away now big time, because Trump was never going to deliver what he promised, in fact most of those who voted for him - less well educated blue collar folk are much worse off. Ironically those least likely to vote for Trump- degree educated middle class are those least likely to have been badly affected.

Trump continues to show himself up as the low-life bully that he is.

The insulting language he uses to other countries actually brings the US down to his level.

On the news today he was describing President Obama as "a lousy president".

Takes one to know one. Not that Obama has ever come close to sinking to Trump's low-life level.

As many of us have commented, just when you think Trump has peaked, he demonstrates even lower depths

I hope you’re right Whitewave and that voters are turning away big time. I hoped he wouldn’t win against Hilary, then it was painfully obvious he’d win last time. I try not to catastrophise but I have to manage feeling anxious about his increasingly shocking comments. He’s the worst kind of role model with no one around him willing to reign him in, much less acknowledge he’s not fit to be presidentb

I've just been watching the chilling TV documentary Escaping Idi Amin. He was a monster and reminded me of Trump in so many ways.
Worth watching btw.

He's also announced that Republicans have already won every seat in the midterms! Every single one. Scarily delusional but I fear what will happen when he doesn't get his own way.

So he’s psychic too?
Or perhaps he has the results rigged already?
Either way (?) his mania scares me

Barack Obama made a coherent, pertinent speech, in front of a huge audience in Cleveland Ohio. He described Trump's second term as "Two years of chaos, cruelty, corruption and incompetence." He also commented on Trump's obsession with doing up the White House.

Trump replied with his usual unfocussed word salad. Predictably, he said that Obama was not popular and that hardly anybody attended Obama's speech. Then he went into his usual anti Democrat rant. He went on to detail the way he had renovated and improved the White House and how wonderful the ballroom was going to be.

As far as I can make out, he said nothing about the current situation as it affects the cost of living and living standards in the USA.

If you can see videos of his recent rallies, the venues are not well attended, and you can see people walking out, as he rants and performs.

The only good thing about his latest outburst is that perhaps those americans who seem to have such short memories , that they ignore his sexist, racist, lunatic behaviour and have continued to vote for him, might finally realize what a mistake they made in ever letting him in the White House. I dont hold my breath though, as sadly it appears that there are still those who care only about themselves and what they can grab , legally or illegally. Perhaps some sanity might occur who knows?

As for telling people that they are not welcome in USA, I wouldnt think it would bother any of them right now. With him in charge who the heck wants to live there, when you have no idea what crazy idea will be dreamed up by this unstable man. Behaving like a child and shouting "you cant play at my house" whilst everyone walks past with no intention of joining him!
