Navi Pillay has won the Nobel Peace Prize - 2026

Good for her, and thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Here she is -pic and short details of her life and work. Unsurprisingly, she was involved with defending Nelson Mandela near the beginning of her career

Trumps reaction as reported in the article

"Hours after the announcement, the Trump administration unveiled broad new sanctions against the ICC, on which Pillay also once served. The US secretary of state, Marco Rubio, said the measures were to ensure the court would never prosecute Americans.

The ICC has not charged any US nationals, and has previously pointed out that it is a court of last resort, unnecessary in the case of countries with effective legal systems

She seems a worthy winner who has dedicated most of her working life to upholding International law. She's the perfect antidote to Trump, no wonder he's angry.

An excellent choice, and a worthy winner.
Mr Trump is furious, but when isn't he?

The day Trump is awarded a Nobel is the day they become meaningless. He won’t.

Seriously, I haven’t been given the gold star so I’m going to attack you? Beyond pathetic.

Surprised he still wants it when this is what he thinks of it:

"The Nobel Peace Prize has been forever discredited by a handful of radical ideologues who are anti-democracy and really enemies of civilisation," he said.

He wants to be worshipped. Literally. I have these recurring memories of the bit of the film of Hitler in the bunk in "Downfall" the masterful film made in 2004.

"The movie is widely recognized for a specific, intensely terrifying scene where Hitler—masterfully portrayed by Swiss actor Bruno Ganz—realizes a planned counter-attack never happened. He launches into a furious, screaming tirade, terrifying his generals and closest cohorts by accusing them of betrayal and cowardice while confronting his inevitable defeat"

(And the terribly sad bit where Joseph Goebbels and Magda Goebbels (the parents of the Goebbels children) poisoned their six children with cyanide.)

Trump isn't even fit to comment on Nobel prizes.
