We're delighted that Jenny Eclair - ex-Loose Woman, novelist, Perrier winner and survivor of I'm A Celebrity - is joining us for a live webchat on Thursday 27 September. Jenny has a new book out (Love, Death and Vanilla Slices) and is about to embark on a nationwide stand-up tour, something she says will give her enormous pleasure and varicose veins.
Do ask a question.

Oh wonderful - I did so enjoy her last two novels. I will order the new one for my kindle right now!

I would like to ask Jenny whether she prefers writing or stand-up. And, if I may have second question, how she came up with the title for her new book. It's great!

Thank you

Ooh I love Jenny Eclair!!

Jenny - I noticed on twitter you describe yourself as a geriatric stand-up comic. Do you think your age is affecting your career (in a positive or negative way?)

ellasgranny Fri 21-Sep-12 19:25:07

I saw you on Masterchef recently. Were you disappointed not to make it further in the competition?

minette Fri 21-Sep-12 20:59:54

What was it like being in Grumpy Old Women? I imagine rather like being on Gransnet but on the telly. I do love a good rant

barbarab Fri 21-Sep-12 21:01:15

I think I've heard you say your daughter is a student? But do you hope she will make you a grandma one day?

PS Am I allowed to ask that?

NfkDumpling Sun 23-Sep-12 19:14:08

I would like to ask if, being interviewed on Gransnet, being a self confessed geriatric and a Grumpy Old Woman - are you a secret Gransnetter?

glassortwo Sun 23-Sep-12 22:06:19

Hi Jenny if your not a Gransnetter you should be grin

bakergran Mon 24-Sep-12 09:30:09

When you were in the jungle for I'm A Celeb, Jenny, what did you miss most about home?

I am never sure if I would miss my family the most or whether I would JUST WANT A FLUSHING TOILET NOW, if forced to choose.

beabop Mon 24-Sep-12 09:36:51

I saw on twitter last night that you said you got fired from Loose Women. What happened? I saw you a couple of times and thought you were very good but i don't get to watch very often

melly Mon 24-Sep-12 09:38:21

I like the title of your new book. Did you come up with it? Also - Gransnet is renowned for talking about cake - so can I ask whether you prefer vanilla slices - or eclairs?

nellywelly Mon 24-Sep-12 11:28:43

Now you have written three books do you see yourself as as much of an author as a comic?

katysgran Tue 25-Sep-12 10:38:00

How many years have you been touring for? Does it get easier or harder? What do you like (or dislike) most about it? I think I would miss my own bed too much

It looked like John and Gregg absolutely loved you on Celebrity Masterchef, and were willing you to do really well. Was it as fun as it looks? I thought that if you'd been more confident, you could have gone further in the competition.

DavidH22 Tue 25-Sep-12 15:26:41

When you go on tour do you have a script written or is it mainly ad-lib to include current events? Do you still get nervous before facing a live audience and any particular memories of Newcastle upon Tyne where you have appeared a few times, although it does not seem to appear on this latest tour?

Ana Tue 25-Sep-12 15:44:35

I love you on TV - I really like your sense of humour! But when I saw your live show on tour I was a bit taken aback by your liberal use of one or two good old Anglo-Saxon words which wouldn't be considered suitable for programmes like Loose Women! Is that the real you, or is it just done for effect and/or to attract a wider audience?

plainbellysneetch Tue 25-Sep-12 15:45:38

Hello Jenny!

Just how tired are you of being asked by lazy/misogynist journos (and the editors who commission them) to comment on 'are women funny/whither female comedy?' features.

JO4 Tue 25-Sep-12 17:30:29

I just googled to see who this is.

I haven't got a question.

effblinder Wed 26-Sep-12 12:32:54

Seconding melly's question.

And also, I like your glasses. I am so bad at choosing frames, I always end up disappointed and buying something boring and safe. Any tips for getting out of my comfort zone?

mayfly Wed 26-Sep-12 14:51:38

I Just a Minute when you're on the panel - is it really hard to play or a real laugh? And what's it like being on a panel with a load of blokes - ever feel like the token woman?

Greatnan Thu 27-Sep-12 09:39:00

I enjoy all your TV and radio appearances, Jenny. Were you worried about the constant portrayal of men in a bad light on Loose Women? Many people remarked that if a panel of men were as critical of women they would be in deep trouble! It made me laugh, but also feel rather guilty.

CariGransnet (GNHQ) Thu 27-Sep-12 09:57:45

A big welcome to Jenny - keep those questions coming - now handing over to the lady herself

firenze Thu 27-Sep-12 09:58:50

Do you think you can train yourself to be funny? How should I go about being wittier?

good, yes, get ordering right now, I like the mix of stand up and writing, when I'm doing a lot of stand up, I crave being at home writing, but when the writings going badly i want to be showing off on stage. To be honest the trouble with writing is that you dont get applause at the end of the day, I like applause, Mac should invent an applause button on your computer that gives you a massive cheer every thousand words
The title was tricky, it makes sense once you've read the book, but it might sound a bit cakey and cute which could put people off!

scribblegranny Thu 27-Sep-12 10:02:20

Hi Jenny. How do you practise your jokes? Are your family your first audience?
