Creamy clouds slowly moving by,
Welcoming breeze in my face,
Laying, making pictures in the sky,
Closing my eyes,
Choosing only positive sounds to go in,
It's not a rat race to win,
Helping somebody along the way,
Healthy boundaries are paramount for each day,
Listen and your learn more,
Smile and open that culture door,
Wildlife sounds for all to enjoy,
Less fumes people, and ride that bike,
Learning new ways,
Meet new friends for a local hike,
Live a life of gratitude,
The past is not here,
Your new life is now,
Dream big, have no fear,
Travel around until you find home,
God is right next you,
You are never alone.

We are older
We are wiser
Some people say
As we dream through a forest
Our music we play
Simple percussion
Rings out our dreams
As we walk through a forest
Yes that's how it seems
We are older
We are wiser
Our music we play
As we dream through a forest
Every day

(instrumental section)

The scent of the flowers
We each dream in our mind
As we walk through a forest
Wild flowers we find
Leave them to flourish
To flower in the sun
To bring joy and contentment
To every one
We are older
We are wiser
Some people say
As we dream through a forest
Our music we play
As we dream through a forest
Our music we play

Love Poem

We met, not in first youth,
On Sparken Hill. Bronze leaves
Dark stained the summer green.

We have grown old.
Not yet the old of pincered limbs and
More tortured doubts of life unlived,
But in this curious waiting room of age.

In lonely dark I open up
My mindbook filled with joys
Of tumbling autumn love
When together we bestrode the world
And feasted deep at the table of the gods.

Would you like
a cup of tea,
a piece of cake
and a talk with me?
And when we've talked
it should be clear
how you will now
address me, dear.
You won't call me Mum
you've let it be known
for you've got a Mum
of your own.
By my first name
As friends and husband do
I gladly give
that choice to you.
Though as you're married
to my son
I respect your view
it isn't done.
So to me my dear
the solution is plain
you may address me
as Auntie Jane

We may have to relabel this “Bert Fry Corner”

ElderlyPerson Tue 28-Sep-21 09:13:07

Reading your post
I wondered why,
you named a man
known as Bert Fry
I've found he's a character
who spends some time
like a Thomas Tusser
of didactic rhyme

Thank you. I love these

Are all these composed by Gransnetters? I think they're good.

It doesn't really matter that the word Eutopia has been replaced by Utopia. I feel sure everyone understood what was meant.

Not my poem, but I have just seen this on Facebook.

The word 'eutopia' has not been replaced.

I used it quite deliberately, knowing of its meaning distinct from the word 'utopia'.

Yes, it is quite rare, perhaps a little less rare now that I have used it in this poem.

I am wondering if, knowing of the poem, some readers might gaze at the root ginger in a supermarket display differently than they would have before and perhaps look for a small piece with a green shoot.

I will. Enjoyed all your poetry.

> As different as six of one and half a dozen of the other?

As different as six white roses and half a dozen of pink roses.

ElderlyPerson Fri 01-Oct-21 01:29:18

eutopia and utopia
Are they just the same
save that one has perfection
an extra letter in its name
ideal place and no place
can they both exist
or is that fine distinction
one that should desist?
