MissAdventure Please post when you have done that, or post that you are stuck.

StarDreamer Fri 15-Jul-22 15:05:54

You will need a debit card or credit card to pay. Have you got one, you needn't say which?

MissAdventure Fri 15-Jul-22 15:10:42

Yes I have.

Do I need to get the persons address first?
Is that a daft question?

Oopsadaisy1 Fri 15-Jul-22 15:24:27

Yes you do..

Then when the Postman arrives and says ‘what collection’ because it doesn’t come up on his hand held device and goes off saying he’ll try it again tomorrow.

Sometimes it works around here, very often it doesn’t, so we end up going to the Post Office even though we’ve paid extra for a Collection.

StarDreamer Fri 15-Jul-22 15:25:33

It is not a daft question.

You will need the delivery address at some stage, including the postcode, but you can get a lot done first.

Can you see that there are five types of item that can be sent?

It will not be a letter and probably not a tube.

So we need to know now what sort of quantity the "stuff" you are sending is, so as to decide whether it is a large letter, a small parcel, or a medium parcel.

And what choices you have to send it in, which depend on what you have got available and how much "stuff" there is.

Such as a jiffy bag or a box or just some brown wrapping paper or whatever.

MissAdventure Fri 15-Jul-22 15:27:01

Ok thank you.
Well I have messaged the person to ask for their address.
Things have been complicated more by me thinking it was Saturday afternoon. blush
Been panicking that time is running out.

Oh, it's like that is it. I was chating to the local postlady about it and she was telling me about how she gets a message about it on her handheld gadget. It seemed very well organised.

FannyCornforth Fri 15-Jul-22 15:30:40

I used it earlier this year (an early adopter, I believe).
The postie didn’t have the printed label that I had paid for; he promised that he ‘would sort it out’ the result being that they lost DH’s driving license.
Which opened a whole new world of problems.
That’s my ‘practical’ experience!
But more fool me!

StarDreamer Fri 15-Jul-22 15:32:15

We can make progress before we need the address.

So how big is the "stuff" please?

MissAdventure Fri 15-Jul-22 15:33:55

Well I have clicked on the link, and seen there are plenty of bits to do before needing an address..

MissAdventure Fri 15-Jul-22 15:35:56

About a medium parcel, I would say.

StarDreamer Fri 15-Jul-22 15:37:25

If you can say how big the stuff and get the weighing scales out then I can work out from here which tyoe of item and which price band as it may well be easier on my computer with its larger screen.

StarDreamer Fri 15-Jul-22 15:38:46

Have you got a ruler or a tape measure?

MissAdventure Fri 15-Jul-22 15:44:06

Yep I have.
Bear with me, I have school stuff going on, too. smile

MissAdventure Fri 15-Jul-22 15:58:33

Sorry, hang on.
I've got to rest now for a bit.
I've got the stuff in a bag thingy.

StarDreamer Fri 15-Jul-22 16:00:43

That's fine. Have a rest.

I can look at other things and check back every few minutes. I am in no hurry, I've had lunch and dinner is hours yet.

BlueBelle Fri 15-Jul-22 16:28:38

I don’t get this stardreamer starts a thread but refers to MissA before MissA has even made a post on said thread???
Is she clairvoyant

MissAdventure Fri 15-Jul-22 16:30:48

I knew you were going to say that! smile

The conversation started on the heatwave thread, so to avoid filling it up with all this, a new thread was started about it.

StarDreamer Fri 15-Jul-22 16:36:35

Hi Bluebelle

This is a spin-off thread from another thread.

MissAdventure has kindly offered to send some "stuff" to another Gransnetter, but would have difficulty getting to the Post Office.

So she could use Parcel Collect.

So I am trying to help MissAdventure work through the Parcel Collect system.

A separate thread so as not to derail the original thread.

You can read of what happened on this linked page.

Quick! Quick! While I,remember.

45 × 30 cm.

MissAdventure Fri 15-Jul-22 16:42:22

Gotta rest a bit again...

StarDreamer Fri 15-Jul-22 16:58:38

Fine.

Take your time, when you are ready, the height of the parcel (just to check it is no more than what is allowed) and the total weight of the "stuff" and the packaging together please.

BlueBelle Fri 15-Jul-22 17:07:28

Ohhh thanks you must admit it was a bit strange !!
I send a lot of small parcels 2 nd class RM and you can go up to one kilo and big nearly the size of an orange crate for £3.35
If that’s any help if not forget I spoke ?

BlueBelle Fri 15-Jul-22 17:08:41

And I can’t read your link Stardreamer as it says
It has Mooooved ( annoyingly)
