Looking after children - chaos all round -yes I recognise that situation

well pompa it is in that group but as for history well it is 2 hour lecture and even if we make a comment he has us straight back on track.

Do you think us females are designed that way though as looking after children one has to be doing so much at once. When I see men looking after children they seem to concentrate on one thing and chaos alll around. I have heard it said that men are chefs, women cook as they specialise and we are all rounders

nellie me too! Then I am cross with myself for letting go, and feel sad that I've been ratty.

green My DH too; he cannot understand how my female friends and I cannot talk in a "straight line".

My DH can never understand how women can be talking to each other about something, yet be able to comment on a conversation between two other people at the same time (the two other people are usually men, who can only talk about one thing at a time!) I think our ears should be like those that cats have - they should be turning to whatever sound is happening, so that it can be attended to!

Aaah thanks Pompa...no I didnt mind..as I said I was having an off day,and that is unlike me am normally a happy little soul,and I would rather make people smile and laugh than bring them down,I admit to being one of those people that has ideas that bounce around I can talk the hind legs off a donkey,go round in circles with the conversation and end up where we started,hope you are feeling better yourself,and that your friend is a little better also

@nelliedeane, I do hope you don't mind me using your thread as an example, it just seemed such a divergence from your first post. Here's some to help your day along.

@fieldwake, I think that may be a U3A thing, all our U3A groups seem chaotic. Our woodturning group is all men, but wanders far from the subject we decided to discuss, and usually far from woodturning.

Mrs. P's book group seems to be the worst, typical conversation at the meeting.

"What did you all think of this months book ?" "crap !" - the conversation then moves on to any unrelated subject.

Not mine! Ex boyfriend from almost 50 years ago! Now a retired pathologist. Should have done psychiatry perhaps?

thanks pompa I was having a bad day I have got my mojo back women often go off on a tangent and finish up on the same subject...or perhaps it is my influence on here because I started off with a virtual birthday thread that morphed into poo kits for the 60th birthday....

That's interesting Jeni, never thought that it could be a female thing, I like your analogy with an explosion. But we do have a friend that can talk for Britain and can cover a dozen different subjects in one sentence, but she is not typical of the females I know.

Our u3a Discussion group has been like this for years. Whoever chairs starts out with a subject and within a short time we are on something very different and don't know how we got there. The discussion is so enjoyable it's very hard to remember and get us back on subject. There are a few men in the group but perhaps they don't stand a chance. Just thought is that where chairMAN comes from?

That was a hypothetical question - but you are right, I should read the entire thread. I just find it interesting the way things morph, just like a flock of starlings.
