Twice, I have been asked by the local paper for a comment about one of our DD's achievements. On both occasions I was reported as having said We are over the moon. I wish to make it clear that this phrase has never, in my entire lifetime, crossed my lips. I did gave the reporter journalist Numpty a few well chosen words which perfectly expressed our sentiments, but obviously they were not fulsome enough and I have been presented to the local public not as the proud mother of two talented daughters but as the cow who jumped over the moon - twice!

No, we don't correct the spellings or grammar of other members. We just say in a light-hearted way the little sayings that we find mildly annoying. (Should I be flattered that anyone bothers to research/remember my previous posts?)

Oh journalists Greatnan. Years ago a Sun reporter was grabbing members of the public walking along the South Bank to ask their opinions of the Queen Mother. I think her seventieth birthday was approaching. I really didn't have a [repeatable] opinion but managed some comment her being stylish. Later in the paper I was reported as saying "She deserves a medal for what she does". As if, as if? even now.

Damp squid is one of mine

I've always thought it was damp squid . I just googled it because I couldn't see the problem with a squid being damp . And, of course I have my obsession with cephalopods to contend with....
