When did 'foreword' become 'forward'?!

I haven't seen it either but I would guess that we are talking about the ubiquitous spell check mentioned elsewhere.

Drives me crazy. A foreword in a book is just that. Nowadays I see 'forward' everywhere when people mean FOREWORD.
