I'm completely baffled by this thread.....

I still refuse to use hair dye, though. Although I did notice a few grey threads this morning. Not on my PC.

How do you use a spellchecker except in WORD? I really must get more tech-savvy.

Ipad does it automatically and quite often completely changes the word you so carefully typed. It thinks it's got a degree in English.

My email client (Opera) automatically checks spelling and marks transgressions with a smug little dotted red underline, so that yuou can correct your missive before it is wafted off to its destination...

I think it is about the username above where you type a new message. Used to be in black, now it's in grey. Still posts as usual though. Watch!

I never had a box above where I typed a post until the other day.
I didn't type my name in it, thinking I would be anonymous and could say anything I liked, but my name appeared anyway!

But wasn't the OP trying to make a point about "vicious" posters? She/he seemed quite bothered by something she'd experienced.

Yes I was bothered about one thread I looked at and there was a couple of posters Shouting and using exclamation marks at each other.

It was reminiscent of children fighting over a toy, not grown ups who we purport to be.

But sometimes it's the tenor of the posts and even the subtexts of the remarks that can convey an air of unpleasentness. If you suddenly come across it, without "knowing" those involved (i.e. which GNetters are generally stroppy or narky) it must seem quite unpleasant; well it does anyway, even if you are used to them.

But I do reserve the right to use exclamation marks whenever I like!!!!!!!

I THINK I am grey. Oh Lord , I will have to emoticon and exclamation mark , just to get over the total shock!!

Maybe it is to remind those of us who were incognito on the sex thread what our username is this week.

You can't type anything into it, it is greyed out to stop you trying. Grey means unavalable.

I typed jingl over it but in preview it just came up "you do not own the username jingl".

I think it's to do with the sex thread. They haven't got round to changing it back yet.

So you can type into it. It just won't accept it.
