A joint of pork is marinated overnight in a barbecue sauce, then cooked very slowly for a very long time - several hours. The result is pork that is so tender you can pull it apart with two forks. Once it's all pulled, you stir in the marinade and juices and leave to cool overnight in the fridge, where the flavours blend to perfection. Then reheat and serve the following day. Delicious!

I am irritated by "a small little ..." if it's said by someone who's paid to speak! Small and little mean exactly the same thing, so why the need for both? Strangely, though, I don't have a problem with "a tiny little ..."

JoniBGoode Cool pre-dates the 1950s by at least two decades. It was certainly used as a term of approbation by jazz players and fans in the the 1930s.

"To die for" is one of many pet hates. Can anything be that good?

A. "No thanks, I'm good".

What does that even mean? Other irritations include "so" at the start of every sentence, "you guys" and "okay, cool".

Of course "cool" has been around since the 1950's as in "cool cat, man" but nowadays, like, as an adjective, it is like, well over used.

My late father used to hate the phrase "at this moment in time". What was wrong with "now"? I don't like "bored of". I always thought it was "bored with" and I definitely hate train station, particularly when it is on official signs!

Current pet hates :- ' Revert back' - the 'back' is entirely superfluous.

People beginning sentences, usually in reply to an inquiry with, 'So.....' a recent affectation which I find teeth-grindingly annoying !

Well, I think you should carry on saying thank you for the things you're grateful to him for doing. Our children do sometimes seem to get irritated with us for the most odd things...

Yes he does but apparently I say it for irrelevant things..If he dries up or puts the rubbish bags out...ugh.

I was brought up to say Thank you when people did things for me and I still do it...Apparently he doesn't think I should be doing it all the time ...what do you think..It is VERY hard to break the habit of a lifetime

Most of my pet hates have already been mentioned but I also really dislike the use of" train station" "cupcakes" and what in the world is "pulled pork"?

Biggest Grandson (18) has moved through,"basically", "actually" and "random" to,"to be fair". Senseless to hear a phrase such as,"He's called William, to be fair"

The replacement of,"invitations" with "invites"...I think this battle's lost, even printed packs of the wretched things are now labelled,"invites"

Hate 'You know' every other sentence, and 'Bless'. And I hate all the rest that you have already mentioned! Another thing that drives me mad is 'There's two reasons for this'. NO - there ARE two reasons. And 'The Government are'. NO - The Government is!
