Lately on tv news this word seems to have slightly changed in usage. I wonder when and where this began. It seems to be used as 'shattered' to convey an emotional wound rather than a physical one.

Words do change in their usage though.Think of 'gay'.

Yes I am sorry we lost gay as it describes a particular emotion that is good, and fun.
