Just listening to the radio and someone said that they had taken umbrage at a remark. I usually take my umbrage with something.

Or is imbrage a word as well?

rosesarered Sat 22-Jul-17 14:29:11

Umbrage!

I find that tart rejoinders need some clotted cream with them, whilst imbrage can be taken plain.?

grandtanteJE65 Sat 22-Jul-17 14:13:46

I take umbrage at things and with a tart rejoinder, never with a pinch of salt.

I take mine very rarely and usually with a pinch of salt. smile

While on your high horse, like an Olympic dressage rider.[roastchicken}.

An entirely irrelevant emoji but I have only just seen it and it amused me.

rosesarered Sun 06-Nov-16 17:59:27

Yes, a good gallop is what's needed.smile

Ana Sun 06-Nov-16 17:57:12

But the moral high ground is always so busy these days.grin

Ana Sun 06-Nov-16 16:40:28

I agree, ideally you should be on the moral high ground when you take it...

M0nica Sun 06-Nov-16 16:37:30

I always feel at a disadvantage taking it sitting down.

POGS Sun 06-Nov-16 16:34:38

Ana. grin

I'm waiting Waiting for somebody to take umbrage.

Ana Sun 06-Nov-16 15:54:10

POGS Sun 06-Nov-16 15:51:48

Well Brexit is causing 'BUM RAGE'. grin

rosesarered Sun 06-Nov-16 11:10:47

trisher Sun 06-Nov-16 11:07:27

I've just thought after Brexit will we still be allowed to take umbrage? sounds a bit foreign to me. Please can someone assure me it is absolutely British and not under threat...

M0nica Sat 05-Nov-16 18:25:04

Somebody told me that I was past that 'age'! grin I rather miss it as I liked it the drier the better or with ice and a slice.

What a fantastic thread! Thank you for brightening my day,*kitty*.
I take mine regularly, hot or cold depending on the weather grin - in fact, it's going for an outing this evening. A rather difficult committee meeting full of wilful and negative wimmin!

Lewlew Thu 03-Nov-16 14:33:24

I wash mine down with Prosecco! wine
