Suddenly it's step foot instead of set foot. Who decides when perfectly good phrases are to be changed?

I had never heard of 'step foot' before I read this post so I googled it. Apparently both phrases have been around for a long time, 'set foot' from the 15C and 'step foot' from the 16th. The former being the usual but the latter becoming more popular since the 1980s. I still think 'step foot' sounds clumsy.

I agree Nandalot step foot is more awkward to say. I'm hearing it a lot lately.
