I hate it as well, Teetime, and would never use it myself.

Same with 'Who knew?'...gah!

I like both of those expressions. One day they will be tired old cliches, but for now they have a bit of freshness and vitality about them.

I like it too, but have never used it myself.
It reminds me a bit of the Yiddish expressions such as "a captain he isn't" (when he just wear a captain's uniform.)
