These have appeared on my FB page today. - ”redified” and “litchelly”. Took me a minute.

The use of ‘conversated’ instead of ‘conversed’ seems to be used a lot lately.

Jayem Fri 15-Dec-17 14:20:36

Rectified??

Kim19 Fri 15-Dec-17 14:13:18

I always assume these 'errors' lie in the lap of predictive text rather than any ignorance or lack of education on the part of the sender.o

I saw one for sale ward rope

Being a historian of comparative religion, I read redified as re-deified meaning making someone a god for a second time. I doubt even the late Roman emperors actually did so,

Thank you all for many good laughs and yet another reason why I don't like Facebook.

The response 'good' to the question 'How are you' sets my teeth on edge!

sandelf Fri 15-Dec-17 12:06:58

Ooh 'scarey'.... Grrr

missdeke Fri 15-Dec-17 12:02:26

I too have seen chester draws! My latest bugbear - I seem to have rather a lot! - is 'hotting up' instead of 'heating up'.

pedant's hat on

Weren't we all born illiterate? (Even in the 21st century)

pedant's hat off

Daisynance123 Fri 15-Dec-17 11:49:35

One of the funniest I've ever seen was an expectant father excitedly telling the world that his wife was having 'contraptions'!

Musicelf Fri 15-Dec-17 11:44:02

Great Twitter one - someone's Grama (Grandma) had die of beeties (diabetes).

Madsad Fri 15-Dec-17 11:29:59

Loose instead of lose, calandar and'super' as in 'super fun!'

I too had a cane wielding English teacher - who like yours would most certainly "pounce" . . . . I LOVED her . . . she looked and dressed like Dolly Parton . . . . she certainly encouraged my sesquipedalian tendencies . . . . I can't get to grips with many of the FB "shorts" though. . . .

sarahellenwhitney Fri 15-Dec-17 11:13:40

Bathsheba
Your 'rendering' comment made me smile
I cringe when listening to these so called educated persons and have visions of my cane wielding English teacher walking amongst the class ready to pounce on the unfortunate who as she informed us had most certainly been born illiterate.
Doubt that 21C she would have got away with that comment.

kircubbin2000 Fri 15-Dec-17 11:13:22

The one that annoys me is"do you ship this couple". Seems to mean they make a nice couple.

marionk Fri 15-Dec-17 11:12:39

Hate the the phrase ‘so fun’ , seems to be in use a lot in the States........

Biddysue Fri 15-Dec-17 10:49:58

I was surprised when I read a letter complaining about some black bits found in a tin of peaches. The writer said that she had rinsed the peaches to remove the black bits and the peaches were then consummated !
grin

patriciageegee Fri 15-Dec-17 10:39:28

I once worked with a girl who's adored boyfriend was up there on a 'pedder stool'

yogagran Fri 15-Dec-17 10:27:54

One of the posts from someone on my FB page stated that it was "wrapped up like a trustup turkey"

GrandmasueUK Fri 15-Dec-17 10:17:08

From someone who works in a primary school I saw. 'Are Sam' instead of 'our'. Argh. The funniest I thought was 'good will jester' grin

Lincsblue Fri 15-Dec-17 10:09:53

'were' and 'did' seem to have disappeared on FB too, replaced with 'was' and 'done'

I spoke with a young person recently about exams and when I said about English Language they said they didn't do grammar in English Language but poetry etc. At my school that was English Literature. It could also explain a lot!

HannahLoisLuke Fri 15-Dec-17 10:05:17

I've seen Chester draws advertised too Gypsy. I think sometimes it's pesky predictive text but yes it sets my teeth on edge.

Gypsyqueen13 Fri 15-Dec-17 10:00:42

I did see an advert once for a second hand ‘Chester Draws’ ?

ninathenana Fri 15-Dec-17 08:04:50

On the local FB selling page recently someone was advertising their hand made "reefs" (wreaths) I wanted to correct him but didn't.
Someone did though as it was edited later that day tchsmile
