I did mean 'moment' shows how bad the moment was. Am I still safe to let out without a minder?

Yes I do have problems with my movements sometimes grin

Shades of George W Bush!

Surely, senior movements are a good thing!!

Auntieflo Fri 24-Jan-20 09:42:38

Oh ? Mumofmadboys, I hope not.

Agree with M0nica about specific meaning of remediated. It’s usually a process of cleaning up contaminated soil, often using microbes. Specific toxic chemicals must be broken down. “Remedied” or “fixed” wouldn’t convey the same meaning.

Is a senior movement an even longer senior moment??

M0nica Fri 24-Jan-20 08:39:53

Remediated, in my world, has a very specific meaning.

Back in the years when I worked in the gas industry, it meant very specifically restoring cleared land back to its original state, making sure that it was replanted with plants that were there in the first place by either collecting seeds and plants ahead of clearance or cutting turves containing all these plants and using them to restore the land.

Saying remediated when the word remedied is simpler and more obvious is classic 'business speak' to try and make something simple sound complex. Too often the speaker doesn't actually know what the word they use means.

I saw one yesterday, where the word used was the opposite in meaning of the simple similar word that should have been used. Unfortunately I have forgotten what and where (grr, senior long movement)

Yes it is kitty but it wasn't my post smile

You have to admit sodapop that it is quite a tortuous word when others convey the same meaning.

loopyloo Fri 24-Jan-20 07:43:11

No, it does exist as a word. It twanged with me so I looked it up.

MawB Fri 24-Jan-20 07:34:30

Oh, “remedied” ! grin

kittylester Fri 24-Jan-20 07:32:24

Used lots by a Fire Chief on Breakfast this morning. I think he meant fixed!
