His new book due to be published next week! ?

MawB Tue 14-Jul-20 07:52:04

Certainly never mastered the apostrophe!

Whitewavemark2 Tue 14-Jul-20 07:55:36

I wonder who actually wrote it? I don’t think Trump has the staying power or ability.

Pantglas2 Tue 14-Jul-20 07:56:47

Surely the publisher has ghostwriters and proofreaders? Don’t think the Donald can be blamed for that (and I’d blame him for a lot?)

Oopsadaisy3 Tue 14-Jul-20 08:22:10

Oh I do hope he wrote it himself!
I’m sure it’s tremendously, tremendously, very brilliant and will sell over eleventy billion copies in the first week, in the US alone?

Yes, I can't wait to read it. I am sure I will find it enlightening , if only as a sort of reminder of how money doesn't make a person intelligent.

To be fair, the cover design will be by the Publishers Art Department.

I do hate the apostrophe. I will do anything to avoid using them. Like I've just done.

I don't think we can blame Master Trump

However in my ignorant way I am wondering if this was just a book about Biden. So one Democrat. So the apostrophe would be correct?

Ready to have it explained to me

The converse of that being:

You don't have to be intelligent or educated in order to make money!

I do dislike wandering apostrophes.

If autocorrect inserts one there I will blush

Callistemon Tue 14-Jul-20 10:18:38

Oopsminty you could be right.

The Democrat rather than The Democrats.

Furret Tue 14-Jul-20 14:25:10

In that case it would surely read ‘Jo Biden and his Defense of ...’

When you write a book you can design the cover yourself. Even if you don’t you have a proof copy to check over in case your editor/proof-reader/9-year old granddaughter has missed something,

Very Odd!

Yes, Callistemon that's what I was wondering.

I don't think I'll be reading the book mind you, apostrophe or no apostrophe!

GillT57 Tue 14-Jul-20 14:34:32

well, my theory is that he is too dim to write any book himself, this is ghost written and the stray apostrophe is to fool us into thinking he wrote it.......Lovely Americans we were chatting to on holiday last year referred to the two sons as Dum and Dummer

Well it's certainly got people talking about this book

There's no such thing as bad publicity as the saying goes!

That's true Oopsminty!
