Furniture item with 'draws' - should be 'drawers'!

Aveline
I think Richard Feynman might have something to say about that assumption.

That is the first I realised I lived in a coldie sack. It is cold at present.

Freecycle shows draws instead of drawers. I look on offer to discover somebody is actually asking for eg a leaf blower so does not know the difference between wanted and offer.

On GN I often see i'll as unwell. Argh!

I've lived all over England, and can't think of anywhere that pronounces 'drawers' as anything but 'draws'.
However 'withdrawal' can be pronounced as spelt or as 'withdrawl' depending on geography.

Drives me mad too I really have to tie my wrists to not correct them on marketplace

None of them bother me.

Called drawers 'draws' must indicate either a lack of hearing or lack of basic education.

As in “Winter draws on” ? ??

“Draws” seems to be the accepted way of saying drawers in the North East. Certainly one of the things I’ve noticed since moving here 16yrs ago.

And a house described as being in a “coldie sack”. Chilly? ?

Don't forget a 'Christmas Reef'

My ‘favourite’ was a ‘chez lounge’. ?

My first visit to Pedants' corner but this has been irritating me for some time. It seems that whenever someone offers this item on a local sales site (lots of them on Facebook) or for rehoming on Freecycle the drawers are usually referred to as 'draws'. I can't help it - it causes me to shout at the laptop, which does no good, of course!
