I keep seeing ‘reindeers’! (In print, I mean.)

Many years ago I saw a wonderful sign on a market stall selling tea-towels, flannels, etc: Bargan sail! Ladys Pinnie's alfprice.

Almost as bad as 'she dove into the lake and rescued the baby. (my pet hate)

Not the same at all but yesterday I read that following an accident Stephen Fry is having constant physiotherapy. I suspect he's actually having continuing physiotherapy

It seems to be just in the last couple of years that reindeers seems to have crept in. Along with "are country" and the use of apostrophes in all plurals.

It should be hooves of course, but roofs is correct.

Roofs is the plural of roof in all varieties of English. Rooves is an old secondary form, and it still appears occasionally by analogy with other irregular plurals such as hooves, but it is not common enough to be considered standard.

Funny (true) story -- sorry, it relies on you having some knowledge of the Portsmouth accent. A man knocked on our door one day and asked, "Is ubby a reindeer?" It took several minutes but I eventually twigged that he was saying, "Is your husband around, dear?" Well, we thought it was funny. Don't even get me started on the plumber from the Black Country....

My pet hate at this time of the year is those who sing "Good King Wence last looked out" or "Good King Wencelas last looked out"

It is irritating. The plural of "deer" is "deer"... Nearly as annoying as the greengrocer's/greengrocers' apostrophe.

Only 4/5 weeks to go Witzend and you can forget about the red nosed ones for about 11 months 🤞😄
