Another expression I have come across frequently recently is “loving on” so a similar thing.
It is only in American press that I have read it.
Another example of language evolving but I don’t like either expression and certainly won’t be using it.

I’ve seen this twice in the past couple of days - in both cases the ‘on’ was completely redundant.
Is it another blasted import from across the pond?
