Thanks ladies, I know we made the right decision for him, he was a proud dog and hated having to be lifted and cleaned up after when he messed in the house.

Out little Jack Russell will be bereft - she hasn't noticed yet he's not here!

How upsetting for you all, it's heartbreaking...although we know it has to be done and we know it is the best thing so that our furry friends and companions do not suffer..it is still so very hard to go through with it...I used to be on another forum and they had a topic "rainbow bridge" where all our little and big! friends crossed over.........maybe that is a cue for another topic where we can remember our furry friends....smile

My deepest sympathies ...isn't it horrible, but maybe some humans should be offered the same dignity that our lovely vet has offered to our pets at the end of their lives. She even drove miles to open her surgery on a very snowy New Years eve to put our 24 yr old cat to sleep ...and she didn't even charge any extra...not that we would have minded.
You will have lovely memories of dear Jasper RIP sad xxx

You have to love them enough to let them go. When our elderly lab went I cried all the night before but youngest DD and I held and cuddled her and "posted "little bits of chicken breast in as she fell asleep in our arms. I was very impressed by the sensitivity and consideration of the vet herself and everybody at the practice - would that "human" hospitals were always like that.
Deepest sympathies to you on the loss of a faithful friend.

he was nearly 17, blind and deaf, back legs were going and he kept falling over, even so it was not an easy decision. My husband went to the vet with him and held him. My job was to let our children know. Goodnight Jasper, my faithful friend.
