Little thing has not been well for over a week now. seems it had some kind of twisted bowel/intestine problem, and the cost of operating started from £700...! that was just the begining! and the vet said he couldnt say that it would be a sucess, and may need further ops, so we had to go for the alternative sad.She has only had 3 months from the animal rescue place, the vet was so kind and compassionate...I had to bring grandson home to mine as daughter was so upset, she wanted to go straight to bed, I/we couldn't stay in the room whilst the deed was being done....(did that with my other daughter and her faithfiull friend) sad

It is very hard when you have formed a bond with a pet, but you at least know it was the right thing to do. When my daughter's cat got run over the vet said there was nothing to be done, and I stayed up all night stroking her and saying soothing things until she died. The family were all very upset, but it does get better as the time passes.

It's so sad to lose an animal. We had to say goodbye to our cat recently too, after seventeen years and it was a real wrench. We have had four cats and only one has lived out its natural span. Two had thyroid disorders (including the above-mentioned one) which eventually led to their demise, and one poor little scrap that we got from the RSPCA was in poor health from the start. He turned out to have some kind of blood disorder, and we didn't have him very long, but he was a dear and so funny. Vets fees are horrendous these days and no-one would see an animal in pain; I have every sympathy with your daughter, Bikergran.

It's sad to lose a pet, even one you haven't had for long. I'm going tomorrow to spend the weekend with my son's family - one of their young cats has gone missing and I'm dreading their distress. I've been through it when my lovely black cat disappeared in Kenya. It's worse when you just don't know what's happened.
