New cats!

Have just 'adopted' 2 2year old cats! They had a bit of a look about, eaten a bit and now have taken refuge behind sofa/setee ! If I pull sofa out, one will come up to me and rub himself all over me, and has been up on my lap, the other is reserving judgement! I only got them yesterday and, as yet have not used litter box, don't appear
to have gone elsewhere ( its a tiny house ) Should I just leave them be or be more proactive?
They are brothers btw.

Has anyone seen the pic of Palmerston, the new black cat belonging to the Foreign Office? He was a rescue cat, and is a very handsome boy.

Whoops! I pressed post instead of preview. Fill in in the typos yourself.

We got out cat when I was sharing a flat in bedsit land in what is now the very posh area of Crouch End.
We had mice in our flat so the landlord allowd us to get a lovely ginger kitten.
For about a week he hid at the back of the settee or if he was scared ran up the curtains or the wallpaper. He eventually settled in and became a lovely gentle friendly cat.
The frieds in the flat moved away and I had to move. I was left to find a home for the cat and happened upon a colleague who lived in a bedsit house which already had a cat. He took the cat. I had visiting rights and in the end "reader I married him." (not the cat)

Those cats have really settled into their new home- they are beautiful. Good luck to you once they start bringing home lunch and evening meals- that is the one thing I do not like and I am so pleased that Tara has now decided she is happy with the food that I provide.

I think they're beautiful. Such handsome cats.

What a lovely photo!

grannylyn65 Sun 31-Jul-16 19:37:37

They are very silent and seem to materialise out of nowhere!!

They are lovely boys! Do they do that sort of "clicking" thing when looking at the birds?

grannylyn65 Sun 31-Jul-16 19:13:20

I wish I was outside!!

grannylyn65 Sun 31-Jul-16 19:12:32

Settling in very well but only when its just us, when family visited took refuge behind sofa!
Using litter tray and staring longingly at the little birdies outside!!

When I had kittens (not literally) I got them used to the litter tray by holding their little front paws and making a digging motion in the litter with them. They got the hang of it right away!

Not the joiners Wilma grin

They are a 2 man wrecking crew ! Coming up often for a cuddle.
Having a manic run around now! Am not quick enough to take pic!!

WilmaKnickersfit Wed 27-Jul-16 22:42:39

So did you have some male company last night grannylynn? winkgrin

grannylyn65 Wed 27-Jul-16 17:41:35

Its all in the eyes Wilma!
Unfortunately had the joiners in, so we are back behind the sofa!!

They are absolutely adorable grannylyn. I found brushing/grooming helped to create a bond. My cat was a bit standoffish at first but was soon following me everywhere...couldn't even go to the bathroom without him following me. They are very lucky wee cats. x

grannylyn65 Tue 26-Jul-16 21:02:45

One is very affectionate, other one ☹️!

grannylyn65 Tue 26-Jul-16 21:01:49

Yes, under spare room bed !. I have never come across such silent cats!!

seacliff Tue 26-Jul-16 20:49:52

Good idea about the savings account. We have 4 cats, and the cost of good insurance is huge.

Re drinking water, I believe many cats like their water bowl well away from their food, for some reason. We now have a water bowl separate, and another outside, as they like drinking rain water.

Hope you've found them now!

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 26-Jul-16 20:45:32

Now you are being tested by your young men grannylynn! How do you find black cat hiding in a dark place! grin

grannylyn65 Tue 26-Jul-16 20:34:27

Thanks tiggy, another baffling question - how on earth can I lose a cat in a teeny tiny house??!!! confused

tiggypiro Tue 26-Jul-16 19:36:06

What a lovely story grannylyn and probably soon to be a threesome in bed no doubt !!
Some of you will remember my post of almost 2 yrs ago when Purdy Puss walked into my house (literally) as a kitten of about 10 weeks. At that time she would fit in the palm of my hand but certainly could not now. She has grown into a beautiful cat and as the vet said at the time 'she knew a mug when she saw one'. Love her to bits as you obviously do too with your boys grannylyn Totally agree with the savings account instead of insurance - Purdy has cost much less than £12 per month in vets fees (as did my pony when I had one)

Sounds like all is going well, loving the updates!

WilmaKnickersfit Tue 26-Jul-16 13:34:11

Look at that face! shock He's gorgeous! grin

That's a good tip Lupin wink
