I am to have a puppy. All arranged by younger daughter , son in law and son in law who isn't ? Please be happy for Lottie and for me, we are lonely and the home needs joy .

And my physiotherapist agrees

Daisynance123 Mon 11-Dec-17 17:05:07

Meant to say Anniebach, I wish you great joy with the new member of the family.
My dear Derek is now 11years old and, like me ,has arthritis but only a little ( unlike me!). On this freezing cold day ,he and I are tucked up warmly in front of a blazing fire.

Daisynance123 Mon 11-Dec-17 16:51:45

A little while after my DH died,my daughter , unexpectedly, turned up with a puppy.
For some unknown reason,as soon as I laid eyes on it , I called it Derek.
It turned out to be a male but ,evenso ,had it been female I would not have changed the name. After all ,they don't know what sex they are,do they?

Aw craftynan, it was a lovely thought, so kind, you were not to know it was my lullaby, my childrens and grandchildrens lullaby , and when a little! younger drove everyone mad in the rugby club with my rendition of Myfanwy, I stopped when my grandson said - your not going to sing Myfanwy again if we lose are you? blush

craftynan Mon 11-Dec-17 15:39:14

Sorry, Annie sad

Anniebach Mon 11-Dec-17 15:36:17

Not Myfanwy, that's my song every time Wales loses at rugby , and such the most beautiful song but makes me cry ?

Lovely new Anniebach! Think of all that fun with the Christmas’s wrapping paper! tchwink

craftynan Mon 11-Dec-17 15:03:43

Lovely news, I was thinking Cariad as I scrolled through page 1 then saw that you were considering it! Or what about Myfanwy, Myfi for short. I expect you’ll know what she should be called as soon as you see her! Lots of luck with her.

They can be little nightmares , I am now checking every room for wires. Having an area by the back door fenced off, don't want to search for a white puppy in a snowdrift and lot of winter to come. Have to find new home for house plants in fire grate and clear shelf of rather large coffee table of books and papers , heek

I remember the young lad who was the son of the people who owned the kennels we used to use years ago. He had a Jack Russell puppy called Effie who was a really naughty dog (not nasty naughty) and she got her name from how often he called her that Effin dog (excuse my language)! tchgrin

WilmaKnickersfit Mon 11-Dec-17 14:21:19

Thanks Annie and I'm sure you're right about how thrilled DD would be. Nessie is a name I've not come across before for a dog, but paddyann is right about a puppy being a little monster at times! tchgrin

Anniebach Mon 11-Dec-17 13:48:33

Paddyann, I thought of Scots names ?

Wilma, get well soon and have Boogie x

Nfk, Come Quat , love it, so funny but Tux is sweet.

First puppy I have chosen without daughter1 but she was as passionate about dogs as I am so would be thrilled for me

Anniebach Mon 11-Dec-17 13:42:40

These names, reminds me when daughter2 had her kitten, born St Davids Day, we went to collect her and breeder said - I have called her daffodil because of her date of birth. My husband said - I have no problem with these dogs and cats but I am not going into the garden calling Daffodil grin so daughter2 called her Topsy , her aunts nickname, then my husband had to explain to his sister a kitten had been named after her. Topsy lived until she was seventeen ?

paddyann Mon 11-Dec-17 13:38:53

she could have a Scottish name to match her breed, how about Ailsa ,or Isla ,Heather or Morven ...or Nessie ,she'll be a little monster for a wee while I'm sure.Have a lot of fun with her and I hope 2018 brings lots more joy and less tears and stress..xx

NfkDumpling Mon 11-Dec-17 13:14:37

Fantastic! So glad you don't have a long wait.

My SiL wanted to call their cocker spaniel Quat. Just so he could bawl across the fields Come Quat! They called him Tux instead. Apparently it has something to do with computers.

WilmaKnickersfit Mon 11-Dec-17 13:01:39

Annie that is so exciting! A tiny cuddle of love for you and Lottie!

Can't wait to see a photo! tchgrin

If I can get a bit better DH has agreed we can have another dog and I like Boogie for a name! tchgrin

Have just heard, Brother tracked down a breeder , has a litter of five, three boys two girls, both parents K C registered, not from Carmarthen! And I can have a girl , Brother will check litter, breeder will check my house and garden then we can collect Westie No 7. They like us are snowed up.

palliser65 Mon 11-Dec-17 12:45:24

Wonderrful. Enjoy your new friend. Enjoy the falling in love, all the new friends you'll meet on walks and having such good and faithful companionship. Fabulous.

Jane43 Mon 11-Dec-17 12:44:17

Littleflo I hope your DH changes his mind, we are both 74 and can’t imagine life without our lovely Teddy.

Jane43 Mon 11-Dec-17 12:41:10

It will be very rewarding for you, hard work for a few weeks but loads of fun. We got our current dog on December 21st 2013, he was smaller than the tv remote control. Although we were both 70 at the time he has brought such love and fun into our lives and we love walking him every day and caring for him. Ours was the runt too, half the size of the others in the litter, nervous in temperament but playful, with a good spirit and very affectionate. He is half cairn terrier, half poodle and has a beautiful golden coat. He has definitely enhanced our lives and I wish you all the best.

Anniebach Mon 11-Dec-17 12:23:51

Thank you all x I am so lucky my younger daughter and son in law who isn't are supporting me , removes fears . Lottie loves daughter2, when she phones Lottie pushes her head between me and the phone so daughter2 can talk to her ? I really believe dogs are healing. My husband bought me a puppy when the baby died, I bought my daughters puppies when their father died.

I will ask gdaughter 2 to help me post a photograph ?

goldengirl Mon 11-Dec-17 11:46:50

I'm envious! Enjoy your new little resident.

NannyBadcrumble1 Mon 11-Dec-17 11:34:45

Wonderful news! Our home is just not the same since we had to put our four legged fiend to sleep. Mr Badcrumble and I (gosh that sounds posh lol) are torn whether to get a new puppy now, or wait till we’ve moved to North Wales end of next year.

Have fun with your new puppy xxx

sweetcakes Mon 11-Dec-17 11:22:48

Really pleased for you congratulations ??

littleflo Mon 11-Dec-17 10:50:54

I meant a newbie dog. You are obviously not a newbie owner.

littleflo Mon 11-Dec-17 10:49:05

That is wonderful news. We too are getting a dog, hopefully in the new year. Because of our age, we are going for an older dog. We can be newbies together. This is a life long wish of mine. Suddenly, out of the blue, my DH of 50 years and changed his mind about having a dog.

Can you post a pic when you the puppy arrives.
