Cross with my dog

One Christmas I made my son a sausage pie and my daughter who was staying with us, took it back with her to deliver to him. On the way home she stopped for petrol, when she came out and got in to drive away she noticed that her Lab/bearded collie had numerous crumbs round her beardy face!! The pie had disappeared!!!
Way back in the mists of time we had a cocker spaniel who managed to steal my stepfather's cooked breakfast which had been left under the grill to keep warm, and a chocolate Victoria Sandwich cake which had been left unguarded on a cake stand! Not both at the same time!! She lived to be 14 and was much loved, luckily! but a dreadful thief!!

Aww. I wish my boy was still here to do naughty things

One of my cats set her fur on fire by brushing against a lit candle in her attempt to steal a smoked herring off my plate!

Fortunately the fur of the Norwegian forest cat does not burn, it went out before I managed to grab a cloth napkin to smother the flame.

I was actually sitting at the table eating my meal when this occurred, so the cat had no b. business up on the table.

I have never since that day left smoked fish unattended, although the cat concerned is long since gathered to her fathers.

Oh dear - not funny really but ................

A lifetime ago our first dog stole a whole joint of beef off the kitchen side - we were extremely poor at the time so that meat would have fed us for 2 days!

Having cats I've lost count of the number of times over the years I've had tuna pinched while I've been preparing something - I now don't leave anything out for a moment although one of the current two doesn't steal human food - she's far too ladylike for such things

My daughters dog would commit the crime and then put herself in the kitchen for time out.

Bahaha...lesson learned....never ever leave your dinner unattended! Some dogs just can't be trusted (mine included) They would rather suffer the punishment than miss out on a treat!

That's funny Scrapgranny hope you enjoyed your potato and salad. Sounds like some training is in order. We had a Great Dane who just stood at the table and took things. It was difficult to train her out of this.

My cat Oliver can hear me open the fridge when he is in the garden next door and come running in through the cat door at top speed,he will help himself to anything left about he is not fussy.
The cat we had years ago Vienna was well known locally for bringing food she had helped herself to from neighbours kitchens if their back doors where open once turning up with a lamb steak still steaming,I am sure she stole it out of the pan.
I lost count of how many times I offered to pay for replacements she had robbed.

Pets' behaviour if often ruled by their stomachs. I would also have been cross if I was deprived of a fillet steak!
Yesterday I walked up the garden to talk to the farmer over the fence and when I got back indoors I found that next door's cat had been in and stolen the home-cooked ham from the sandwich which I had left on the table.

scapgranny oh dear! That must have been very annoying. I suggest you eat his supper instead.

Scrapgranny, sorry about your lost supper. When our youngest DS was at home, he would bring home waifs and strays. One was a huge dog that could hoover up anything on a work top, just by sweeping his head along it.

oh dear...sorry but I did chuckle! It must have been very annoying though. Did he have that guilty look after?

hate when that happens! i have a food thief,have to watch her all the time.and shes sneaky about it.if it's in a wrapper she hides the wrapper!
maybe bro in texas could send some nice texas grass fed angus steaks

Many years ago I had the greediest, most gluttonous cat on the planet. No matter how much food he had, he would steal more. One day I queued up for ages, at a farmers market, to buy fresh smoked mackerel - actually being smoked on site. I eventually got the prized fish and hurried home. Whilst I was preparing the meal to go with the mackerel, the dratted cat nicked the fish and ate the lot. To add insult to injury, he then vomited them all back up on a shag pile rug.

Oh dear, naughty boy. At least he enjoys your cooking...
