hairless dog

I passed a young woman walking her completely bald dog this morning. I thought the poor creature must be cold as it's frosty here, but she (the dog) was running about, quite frisky.
Is this a special breed? Or does the dog have alopecia?

grin I think there are hairless dogs just like there hairless cats, but I couldn't tell you the name of the breed. I wish our over hairy dog could offer some of his excess!

That could have been a Chinese Crested dog - funny little things to look at, let alone stroke, it feels really weird!

There are several hairless breeds, with Chinese crested popular around here. They look so chilly and pathetic without their coats - but are great as hot water bottles!
