Cats scratching sofas

You can buy strips of tape that you stick to the sofa that discourage cats from scratching as it feels weird to their paws. I haven’t tried it myself but I have used double sided tape and that worked.

Scratching posts sprayed with catnip on a regular basis, anti scratch spray and a feliway plug in have all helped with our baby!

A scratching post, or a door-mat hung up on a wall, and the word "NO" spoken firmly every single time that cat approaches the sofa.

Cats are perfectly capable of learning what not to do - they just don't want to!

If the cat is actually scratching the sofa, go and unfasten its claws from sofa while saying no.

"Bad cat" or "naughty" are words all my cats have learned.
