Ours will always be the beautiful German Shepard. Loyal. Loving. Protective, big bundle of fun! We have had many over the last 60 odd years. Always well trained! I do love the mini schnauzers although never owned one.

Such lovely pictures. The Retrievers and the Setter are just majestic. 👑 We saw a red setter recently and remarked that they seem to have fallen out of favour as it’s years since we’d seen one.

Fanny ours were both tricolours. I’d love a Ruby or Black & Tan but we won’t ever have another dog as it’s too tying.

WWM2 I feel for you. It is such a loss when a pet goes. Hugs 😢

My Cairn is by my side asleep. He is 13 and I think his heart is failing. He has an appointment at the vets on Monday. He is the most gentle, loyal and loving dog I have ever known.

Like him, my heart is breaking.

Italian spinone, my boy will be a year old next week and he's been hard, hard work. He's daft as a brush, loves everybody and all other dogs. I'm hoping as he gets older he'll become more like my calm, quiet old girl, who was fully grown when I got her. I lost her a year ago.

I also think you fall in love with breed that you have. This is our third border terrier with his favourite toy. No-one has told him that he's quite a little dog and when he barks he sounds quite fierce. He's certainly no lap dog as he's only cuddly with me but I adore him.

I have cats but I just love those little Yorkshire Terriers. So cute .

We would never have chosen that breed but inherited one.
Best dog ever.
Cute? Yes, but feisty, energetic and a 'proper dog' even though we got rude comments from other dog owners with larger dogs! Would we have been rude to them? No.

No cute ribbons in this house 😀

Border Collies for me

Cocker spaniels for me, I’m another one with a blue roan soft spot, here’s my boy. He is such a character, as bright as a button.

Such lovely doggie pictures. 😁

This is our Cairn Terrier. Funny, friendly and loyal. He does not shed hair, either. I would not have any other breed of dog.

I love Gordon Setters. I had one along with two black and tan Cavaliers. He was called Raffles and was indeed a gentleman thief, but very sweet natured.

My beautiful cocker spaniel, working breed, has never worked, but the instinct to flush out pheasants, and two mallard ducks yesterday, is very strong, she is teaching my daughters double doodle, to her horror, these skills😳🤣

We have had over the years:
Spaniel mixed breed - very cute but I wouldn't have another
Beagle - so loving but hard to train. Would steal food at any opportunity!
Rescue retriever mix - such a good calm dog
Aussie shepherd - our current dog, and the best behaved of all. Easy to train, good with children, and can be trusted not to be naughty!

I have a soft spot for small terriers and sight hounds, but have never owned one.

Mixed breed rescue with Jack Russell a very close second.

No contest here, but I do love dalmatians too.

Rosalyn69 Sat 18-Mar-23 15:44:04

Long haired mini dachshund.

Norah Sat 18-Mar-23 15:33:44

Small rescue dogs.

Germanshepherdsmum Sat 18-Mar-23 15:29:39

Oh yes Oldbat. We have only ever had those!

Oldbat1 Sat 18-Mar-23 15:28:34

Rescues.

Cocker spaniels are my absolute favourite now, though our previous dog was a Heinz57 rescue dog and was lovely.

We had German shepherd’s when first married absolutely adored them, unfortunately my asthma was out of control for most of my early life (we always had dogs at home)

After wing hospitalised for the umpteenth time and numerous tests I found out I was allergic to dogs and my allergy was escalating, it made me extremely sad to re-home them but I had no choice.

One of our AC has Australian Doodles they are extremely cute and wonderful with young children

It’s always been spaniels in our family, going back several generations. However, having been introduced to Cockerpoos about 10 years ago, I have fallen for them, so intelligent and loving but with attitude.
