Good, well done to your DGD.

Yes, it could be a child next time.

My granddaughter has reported it to the Police and the Council who is the licensing authority. It could be a child attacked next time.

I would be leaving a really outspoken review about this pub warning everyone else.

There has been similar trouble in my area when people buy dogs but make no effort to train them.

I think it should be reported and though not much will happen if it’s a one off, action will be taken if the behaviour is repeated often.

My goodness, that was scary Sodapop so not just UK with this problem, glad your dog was ok but the outcome could have been so much worse

That's dreadful and the dog could have turned on your GSIL or DGD, sodapop.
The mastiff should have been under control and it certainly wasn't a dog friendly pub.

Are there any comments about other such incidents on Tripadviser or their local Facebook page? You'd have to be careful what you said of course, but other people need to be warned.

Beware - Not a Dog Friendly Pub

My granddaughter and her husband took two dogs to a local pub which was known to be dog friendly. They sat at a table outside with the dogs tied to the table. A large mastiff type dog unleashed came up to them and attacked one of their dogs completely unprovoked. My granddaughter and husband tried to drag the large dog away when the owner came along and started hitting my grandson in law, telling him to leave the dog alone. Another member of the public came along and dragged the mastiff away. The publican apologised but would not name the dog's owner. On further investigation it turned out to be his son. What should have been a pleasant evening turned into a nightmare. The dog which was attacked had several bites but no major injury thank goodness.
