Getting dog to wee in a particular place in the garden.

Don't think dog rocks help much to be honest. My only solution has been to follow the dog around with a watering can. I would assume a post would only work with male dogs? I have sectioned off part of the garden for my dog to use. It's only a few feet square but, even then she has to wander around for ages till she finds the right spot. Especially if it's at two in the morning. She does understand the words wee and poo though. Sometimes, if she thinks there's a treat indoors she'll go running back in and I'll say 'do poo', you've forgotten you need one haven't you. And she does. So maybe you could try verbal commands with treats. Although she might then keep asking to go outside thinking she'll get a treat. My dog has a bell to ring to ask to go out but she also uses it to summon the servants.

This may be a daft suggestion, but since dogs tend to pee and poo where other dogs have already used the spot, could you persuade dadski to personally lay a suitable marker where you want her to go? After dark, obviously, and after checking that there isn't an audience to be shocked. Or do it yourself if you dare, but he is better equipped for the task.

I’m with MayBee, the only helpful thing I’ve found is pouring a bucket of water where my dog wees. My big dog is male, does huge wees that burn holes in grass. I pour water on it immediately. I add warm water to his kibble which Google says dilutes their urine.

All our dogs (and bitches) have been trained to pee on command, it's easy to do then you can control where they pee.

Take the dog out on lead; as it starts to pee of its own accord give the command and praise the dog. Repeat command at every opportunity. They learn really quickly. All our previous dogs were trained to"busy busy".

The current dog is trained to "weewee."

My feeble excuse for babying him is that he didn't know any verbal commands at all before we got him at age 9 .

Guide dogs for the blind are also trained to pee on command.

All our dogs have been trained to go at the end of the garden . As pups I’d take then down and wait and when they perform , give loads of praise .

Mine was trained as a puppy to do that too tenko, but now he is older he hates the rain and muddy lawn with a passion, so in the winter he has been with his front feet still on the patio. I’ve now got a beautiful dark green and verdant arc on the lawn at the edge of my patio.

Dog rocks do work but need changing regularly. My dog has learnt to pee after an exasperated Get ON with it!

Winnie hates the grass when it’s really wet and wees on the crazy paving so I end up having to scrub it down. I did read that tomato ketchup in their food stops the grass being scorched but I thought cats shouldn’t eat tomatoes.
