For our lovely young cat who is having surgery today to remove a bullet from her stomach. Yes, someone shot at her. 😥

Wyllow3 Thu 20-Aug-26 21:19:04

I too have just come into gransnet today.

Thank god, or goodness, wherever we stand.
I am so, so, very glad. May she make a full recovery.

Oh I feel so angry on your behalf, MartavTaurus. x

JenniRen Thu 20-Aug-26 20:53:25

Ps Yes, report it, this is a criminal offence.

JenniRen Thu 20-Aug-26 20:51:28

I've only just seen this and am shocked that anyone could do this!
Thank goodness the surgery was successful and I hope she makes a full recovery.

Does she roam far? Can you ask around amongst neighbours to see if anyone knows who might have done this?

Grannyme6 Thu 20-Aug-26 20:40:56

So very sorry that has happened to your little cat - how awful that some idiot saw fit to inflict such an injury, so cruel. It’s good to know the surgery was successful- I hope puss makes a complete recovery. A shock for you MT, hope you’re ok.

Magenta8 Thu 20-Aug-26 20:27:43

I hope that your cat makes a swift and complete recovery. I also hope that you find out who fired the shot and that they are prosecuted for their disgusting behaviour.

Aveline Thu 20-Aug-26 20:27:16

Thank goodness. I hope s/he makes a rapid recovery from this horrible trauma. I hope you've reported it to the police.

Bellasnana Thu 20-Aug-26 20:18:08

So glad to hear the surgery was successful. Hoping the dear little cat will recover from the trauma. Poor puss.

LadyGracie Thu 20-Aug-26 20:11:48

I’m so pleased everything went well for your precious cat, there are truly some evil people about.

AGAA4 Thu 20-Aug-26 19:43:19

So glad the vet was able to remove the bullet. The poor little cat must have been traumatised by being shot.

MartavTaurus Thu 20-Aug-26 19:38:05

Thankfully the surgery was successful. The vet was able to remove the bullet. It wasn't embedded, but could have caused problems later on. Apparently a high velocity projectile would hardly leave a trace on entry, so it could even have happened unnoticed weeks ago.

Now to find an expert in bullets to identify the weapon, though getting to the bottom of who did it isn't as easy.

Thank you to everyone for your concern.

Tworedroses Thu 20-Aug-26 19:34:55

The poor little thing. Some people are just utter scum. Hope she’s ok. 🙏

watermeadow Thu 20-Aug-26 19:28:03

I do hope your cat soon recovers. When she comes home you will surely be very worried about letting her out again. You might consider keeping her in as a house cat to keep her safe.
I adopted 2 indoor cats and knew they had to stay indoors as they knew nothing of the dangers of traffic or other cats. They have a Catio (a run attached to a ground floor window) and are perfectly content. Above all, I know they are safe.

fancyflowers Thu 20-Aug-26 15:58:43

What an awful thing to happen! I sincerely hope the surgery goes well and that your cat makes a complete recovery.

sodapop Thu 20-Aug-26 15:36:54

What a horrible thing to do MartavTaurus there are some dreadful people around.
I hope your little cat makes a complete recovery. Please keep us posted.

Greyduster Thu 20-Aug-26 12:24:20

There are some horrible people about. We took on a cat who had been abandoned and took her to the vet for a checkup. He found a small lump under her skin that turned out to be an air gun pellet! He said it must have been there some time as the flesh and skin had healed over it, and she must have been in some pain from it. A bullet is another matter altogether though. I hope your poor cat recovers from it.

Rosie51 Thu 20-Aug-26 12:18:14

That's horrendous! I hope the surgery is over by now and your poor cat is recovering. I just can't comprehend the mindset of somebody doing such a vile thing.

AGAA4 Thu 20-Aug-26 12:12:12

Hope the operation goes well for the poor cat. What a despicable person to shoot a cat.

Iam64 Thu 20-Aug-26 12:07:31

🙏🏿 for your cat, what an awful shock for you. Do you have any idea who is responsible - here’s to her speedy recovery

Fallingstar Thu 20-Aug-26 10:39:37

So sorry, your poor cat, am hoping the bullet can be successfully removed and that your cat is soon on the mend. 💐
Who would do this?

Aveline Thu 20-Aug-26 10:35:21

Please let us know how the surgery goes.

Grannmarie Thu 20-Aug-26 10:32:32

Thinking of you, hoping and praying that your wee cat recovers completely. 🙏🐈

Georgesgran Thu 20-Aug-26 10:08:57

Poor pussy cat - hope the op goes well and she’s soon back home to be spoilt rotten.

Air rifles (some quite high powered) and BB guns need no licence Terri
A proper gun/firearms licence isn’t easy to get these days - quite rightly so!

LisaAN Thu 20-Aug-26 10:06:12

Best wishes for your little kitty, I pray she will be ok. And I also pray that karma will get the nasty person who did this.

I'm so sorry to hear this.....and really, really angry....whoever did this I sincerely hope suffers repercussions! Anyone who harms animals is less than human. Our cats are our family and I'm not sure what my reaction would be if this happened to them. Sending love and hugs and hope the surgery goes well and s/he makes a good recovery. flowers
