Cat having tail amputated.

My son’s cat had its tail and one leg amputated, due to an accident. She lived very well for 15 years afterwards.

Same here, our cat now 15 years old had his tail amputated as a kitten. No problems at all he has lived and continues to live a full and happy life. Don't worry Twopence your cat will be fine.

He will be a special adoptive Manx pussy cat. I am sure he will be fine.

reminds me years ago where i lived one of the back lanes, there was this puss who used to sit on the edge of the pavement with his tail dangling in the road. Unfortunately one day said tail got run over so he ended up losing the tail. he lived to a ripe old age. animals adapt quickly to losing tails and limbs, hugs for pussy

My DD had a tuxedo cat who had his tail removed. He was fine and his balance was unaffected.

I foster a lot of cats and I’ve had several who have coped very well after their tail has been amputated so I wouldn’t worry. My most recent one was only a few weeks ago after a dog attack and he’s now gone off to his new home and is living a full and normal life. This is Peter

For BlueBelle - 'Tuxedo" is usually a black cat with a big white 'shirt front'. May well have white legs and/or feet too.

NB >> Rarely a bow tie though, as they just cannot be ars*d to do them up properly. However some owners MAY decorate their puss with such adornments?

My sister in laws cat Lucky had to have his tail amputated after a road accident,and did well...he was known after as 'Unlucky' though.

I had a cat with that colouring. We called him Hudson after the butler in Upstairs Downstairs.

My ginger tom jumped a barbed wire fence and got his tail caught. The fire brigade had to free him. His tail was damaged and had to be amputated. It cost me a fortune but he lived for quite a few more years, still doing his daily rounds but avoiding the barbed wire fence.
