KatGransnet (GNHQ) Mon 21-Oct-13 10:46:05

This thread is for the 100 gransnetters who have been chosen to trial No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum.

Here’s what Boots had to say, “No7 is the UK’s leading skincare brand. NEW No7 Restore& Renew Day & Night Serum is specifically formulated for more mature skin and actively targets the five key signs of ageing: wrinkles, lack of firmness, uneven pigmentation, fragility and dull skin. In clinical trials, after four weeks of use, both light-reflecting characteristics and levels of natural moisture return to similar levels of younger skin. New Restore & Renew Day & Night Serum is our fourth clinically proven serum meaning that we have a clinically proven serum for every stage of a woman’s life. We have had great results from our clinical trial and user testing, but we’d love to hear what gransnetters think about the product as well.”

We’d like you to use the product each day and night for at least four weeks, but preferably for the full eight weeks. Feel free to post your feedback on this thread as often as you like while using the serums.

When you're ready please answer the following questions:

Q1: What were your overall impressions of No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum?

Q2. After using Restore & Renew Day & Night serum for four weeks, how significantly has your skin changed in the following areas? If so please give details.
· Lines and wrinkles
· Firmness
· Pigmentation
· Fragility
· Skin’s radiance

Q3. The RRP for No7 Restore & Renew Day & Night serum is £24.95, do you think you'd be likely to buy the product again or not? If so, why? If not, why not?

Q4. If it came up in conversation, would you recommend the serums to a friend? If so, why? If not, why not?

Everyone who adds their feedback to this thread will be entered into a prize draw to win a No7 skincare bundle worth over £100.

Please note, Boots may use any comments posted on this thread in marketing, editorial and/or promotional material so please only post if you are happy with this.

Thanks and good luck,

I have used the two serum tubes for four weeks (tomorrow) and they have just run out. My skin texture is a little less uneven and my skin feels soft and moisturised, but the cost per month is more than I am prepared to pay, so I won't be buying more - happy to accept it as a present, though!

Now at week four and still got some serum left. I found that I did not need to use very much as it covered well. Still not liking the smell but my skin feels smooth. Haven't noticed any difference in pigmentation or any reduction in lines and wrinkles but my skin feels firmer and looks a bit brighter. Now I have to decide whether to buy it again, as it is rather expensive. The Number Seven offers reduce the price quite a lot so maybe worth waiting for one to come along. I would recommend it to my friends if they have never used anything like it before.

I have now used the serums for 4 weeks and my skin does feel softer and a little firmer. Can't honestly say that the pigmentation has changed in any way. I found there was plenty in the tubes to last for the four weeks as only a very small quantity needs to be applied.

I would use the serum again but as it works out at an extra £25 a month to do so then I would think twice if it wasn't on offer. Not sure why it has to be in such small packaging as a larger tube would possibly be more economical. It isn't a miracle cream although it does improve the overall texture of the skin and I would recommend it to friends.

I found the serum very pleasant to use and the different coloured tubes made for easy identification. My skin certainly feels softer and I think looks fresher but I am not sure I would spend that amount on a regular basis as well as for cleanser and moisturisers. I would however consider using it if my skin seemed to need a pick-up.

I little late with my review but I have been away on holiday and had a good chance to test the product. It was hot and sunny so I think it was really put to the test. I loved it and so did my skin. It went on smoothly and made my skin feel nourished and hydrated. I always used Aldi moisturiser after applying the serum. This made a complete package.
I would buy again as I think I could not have used the serum under any worse conditions and it really has worked for me

lyndyloo Sat 09-Nov-13 19:40:49

After using this product my skin feels much smoother and softer. Lines seem to have diminished. This is a very easy to apply product and you do not need to use much

gretta Sat 09-Nov-13 11:04:57

I find the serums easy to apply but as others have said don't think they will last for 8 weeks. My skin does feel softer & the creepiness just under my chin has improved a lot. No difference to wrinkles though, I was hoping the mouth to chin lines would improve but that has not happened, just as deep, those lines are my biggest concern. I used my usual moisturiser Lacura from Aldi on top. Sorry but the serums are a bit too expensive for me to buy on a regular basis

ive been using the serum for around three weeks. My skin does feel soft for a short while after using the serum but that effect only lasts a short while. I do quite like the product but wouldn't spend £24.95 on it. I dont think I would particularly recommend it as I haven't seen a noticeable difference in my skin. However, if someone I knew was thinking of buying some I wouldn't specifically try to put them off either.

mischief Fri 08-Nov-13 22:14:24

Well it's now 4 weeks since I started using the serum and I can't see any difference to my wrinkles. The serum itself is lovely to put on and makes the skin very soft but this doesn't help to support the skin. I still have some left and will continue to use it as long as I can. I'm a bit disappointed that there is no improvement in the wrinkles and I don't think I will buy any but I have enjoyed trying it out.

If I change my view after the tubes are finished I will post again.

whenim64 Fri 08-Nov-13 18:39:30

Used the serum for 3 weeks now and it is starting to run out. My skin is clear and some tiny fine lines above my top lip have become less noticeable. I do like this serum, but at this rate I would find it expensive to use.

Marion6 Fri 08-Nov-13 17:39:23

I've now been using the serum for about 2 weeks and I think it will last the month as only a small amount is required each time. My skin feels soft and smooth but I haven't noticed any increase in firmness or loss of fine lines. I wonder if I am putting enough on...? Next week I'm going to be going away for work for 2 weeks to a very cold ( about -10 plus wind chill factor) climate and it will be interesting to see how well it will work in those conditions.

maxdrans Fri 08-Nov-13 00:51:54

I too am impressed so far by the serums whilst using in conjunction with my own moisturiser cream but you have to ask are the same results gained by using no 7 cream your thoughts

grannygrunt Thu 07-Nov-13 23:22:04

I have been using the serum for just over two weeks now and although I can't see any difference myself, my daughter says my skin looks better already. I must admit my skin does feel really soft and smooth though so I am pleased with the results so far.
I took a picture of myself the day I started using the serum so that I can compare the before and after shots and I will report back then!

2old4hotpants Thu 07-Nov-13 16:16:53

Three weeks into my trial now, and a little disappointed. I cannot see much difference between this and the Lift & Luminate and Protect & Perfect that I have used previously. Yes, my skin is smooth but the sunspots are still the same and I have not yet noticed the fine lines round my eyes diminishing. The write up made it sound like a miracle product, perhaps I was expecting too much.

Grannyknot Thu 07-Nov-13 14:13:18

Just about 2 weeks in and I'm very pleased with what this product is doing to my skin - brighter and I'm certain smoother.

Just a thought - I wonder how it compares price wise to other similar products?

Exiro Thu 07-Nov-13 10:10:03

I have been using the product for 3 weeks. My skin is soft but there has been no discernible difference in blemishes or firmness. It is easy to use and glides on but needs to be used with regular day/night cream which means it is an added expense. The price is high. I am still of the belief that a good diet, fresh air, sensible alcohol use and no smoking are the keys to healthy skin. What goes on the outside makes little difference.

Q1: I do not find it much different from the Boots no 7 serum I have been using daytime for a couple of years. But the colour codes are useful but I do not find a night time serum much use as my skin is rather greasy and so too much night cream means a stained pillowcase! I also found the tubes and instructions hard to read. I do not like the perfume in these ones very much.

Q2.
· Lines and wrinkles
· Firmness
· Pigmentation
· Fragility
· Skin’s radiance
No difference to any of these but then I have been using a Boots no 7 serum for ages.

Q3. likely to buy the product again or not? A bit expensive I would personally just buy the day one!

Q4. Serums are a personal choice no I think you need to try yourself and find what suits. I enjoyed the chance to try it and will finish them up and then consider what to buy next. Due to the perfume will probably revert to my old Boots no 7 serum.

Wen Wed 06-Nov-13 11:48:40

Have been using the serum under moisturiser for three weeks now, and here are my answers to the questions:
1. Liked the idea of different serums for day and night; both easy to apply and non greasy, though a pea sized amount was not enough to do both face and neck. I shall need to cut off the tops now to squeeze more out, but they won't last another week.
2. Lines and wrinkles are less noticeable to me and my face feels firmer and smoother, and looks not so sallow, even more radiant. I have not received any compliments though! Can't really comment on fragility as I have never thought of this as a problem.
3. I would buy this again if it were on special offer, but £24.95 for just over three weeks' supply is too expensive for me. I will put it on my Christmas wish list.
4. If it came up in conversation I would recommend it, but I would point out the cost too.
I was very pleased to have the chance to sample this serum. Thank you.

Even with the after effects of the dreaded shingles and now tonsilitus my skin looks and feels better. Thank your Boots. Tegan, will check that out too.

Tegan Tue 05-Nov-13 19:17:42

Just make sure people use the three for two offer; not sure if you can also use the £5 No7 vouchers that you sometimes get as well [maybe not with the three for two] and also get points, And check which offers are on that day]. Believe me, it all adds up and saves a lot of money.

Funnygran Tue 05-Nov-13 19:10:57

I do like these serums just would feel guilty about spending so much on a face product. Like some previous comments from users, I'm not so much noticing a reduction in lines but my skin does feel smoother and also seems to have more of a glow.
I would recommend to friends of the same age - definitely worth a trial. When the family ask if there's anything I want for Xmas I can always hint about how much I've enjoyed the samples!

tiller30 Mon 04-Nov-13 21:01:37

I am enjoying using the serums. It is my second week.
I like the feel of the product as I put it on.
I havent noticed any miracles yet but like a previous lady I am recovering from a bad cold and I am not at my best !!
Now I can breathe again I am enjoying the perfume too.

moleswife Mon 04-Nov-13 14:31:09

I've been using the Boots Serum for a few weeks now and am really pleased with a number of things: the ease of application - you don't need very much for it to be applied evenly all over face but my neck seems to want more? I'm pleased with the radiance and effect on wrinkles - especially around the eyes. I haven't noticed very much effect on firmness, but a lot of smoothness and softness. Now the price - I'm sure that's not a lot of money for some and it would put a lot of people off just looking at the size of the tubes! But they are economical because you only need such a small amount, but many would need convincing of that! I love its smell and, yes, I would recommend it to others. I've got lots left so I'll keep on using it and let you know when it's gone!! wink

Flowerofthewest Mon 04-Nov-13 13:06:05

I have been using the serum for 3 weeks now and this is the result so far:

Q1 I find the serum very easy to apply, goes a long way and is non sticky, a
nice smooth feel.

Q2 Lines and wrinkles smoother and slightly less noticeable, skin firmer and
more 'glowing' people have made comments. also a dark 'age' spot on
my cheek has almost faded.

Q3 It is a little too expensive for me to purchase monthly which is a shame.

Q4 Yes I definitely would recommend it and have done to friends.

Revis Mon 04-Nov-13 09:38:57

I have been using this for 2 weeks now. Do love the feel of it and am probably using less moisturiser as a result. Didn't have that many wrinkles to start but the fine lines seems better. At the moment I would only buy it if it was on a special offer
