What a god idea as my son fancies himself as a cook but always cooks too much and I am left with the left overs!

Nellie, I use Kallo too. They are GF and it is possible to use either a half or a quarter if you don't need a whole pint of stock. That's not possible with stock pots.

Stockpots look lovely but they are rather disappointing, very salty. Good old Oxo is much better.

Was at a talk by a nutritionist recently on how to get the most nutritional benefit from your food when you are getting older. It turns out that, according to him, you can't do better than make up a pot of bone stock whenever you can to form the basis of soups, packed with cheap root veg. Bone stock is full of minerals and proteins to keep our immune systems strong. And Christmas is the one time lots of us are likely to have bones for making lovely real stock.

I would enjoy having the opportunity to use these small pots.

Anything that can boost cheaper cuts and leftovers are ok with me when these days money is tight I have a book of recipes of my grans that I use all the time but some nice tasty stock could give some of them a boost

To convert "sodium" content to an accurate salt content, you need to multiply the amount of sodium by 2.5.

1 gram of sodium per 100g = 2.5 grams salt

8.6 x 2.5 = 21.5 grams of salt per 100 grams of undiluted stock pot.
It's 21.5 % salt.

I now use Kallo "very low salt" vegetable cubes as I found other brands and Kallos ordinary vegetable stock far too salty.

Most stock and gravy making products are very salty indeed. frighten yourself and check them out.

im very frugal these days, my mum taught me everything i know, !!, im finished with bulk buying and filling my trolley to the brim, i work out a menu sort of at the start of the week and make a lot of stews and soups ive tried various stock cubes and pots but there i s nothing better than home made stock, but sure who has the time for that,!

I have found that stock pots add a new dimension to stews and casseroles and use them frequently. Yes, I did find them a little salty but it's not a problem to use half or three quarters of the jelly and keep the rest in the fridge and use within a couple of days in gravy.

Come on guys! It's not difficult to Google the ingredients in these things. Try the beef, for instance. If you read it, you're unlikely to want to eat it. Healthy eating it isn't - not even near it.

I have tried these and found them to be quite salty. Be interested to hear what anyone else has to say. I cannot eat salt.

I'd like to apply, I use Knorr stock cubes but haven't tried the stock pots as yet. I do make lots of soups and casseroles etc but would love some new ideas.

I've applied as I'd love to get some new ideas for using up leftovers as well as trying out new recipes. I do use the stock pots and am quite adventurous so think it would be a fun thing to do.

I am interested in this as throw away too much food, or it goes to Gert and Mabel (cleaners chickens!) I must throw out more than I eat , so ideas would be super!

I do actually use these for all my vegetable soup making so trying to do stuff with Christmas dinner left overs will be a good challenge. :-)
